How many DVDs do you own?

About 5. Maybe. And none that I've bought.

And even less VHS. - Though I have a bucnh of movies recoreded to VHS. (Like all the bonds)

- Mikko ... doesn't even understand the concept of movies? "People make these things?"

I've got a little over 100...hard to count them when I keep forgetting whom I am lending them out too. I have a list of another 200 that I have yet to acquire.

At its biggest, my collection was 982 DVD's...I sold them all to a guy that was opening a rental store in Texas so that I could fund a short film.

Wow! I hope that short film was AMAZING!

I think I have... maybe 20 or so. I love movies, but I seem to only watch them so many times, and then never touch them again. It seems like a waste; I'd rather spend my dough on other things... like food. I'm a loser. Besides, as I say to film students, "you can spend your time watching other peoples movies, or you can live your life... your films will reflect what you pick."

Not to sound condescending, but you have to admit that a lot of "student" and "amateur" films look like everything else.

"Everyone want's to be Tarantino."

I think it's a balance. You need to learn the basics of story telling, but you also need to make something of yourself. I don't write very many stories about vampire hit men because I have never met, or known much about, or experienced anything other then other films that have to do with vampires or hit men. So if I wrote a film like that, it would proable be a cross between this film and that.

But when I write a story about a group of friends who work lame jobs as mall security guards or a dad raising toddlers, it comes off more honest, and I feel more satisfied with my efforts.

"Artists are the last truthtellers." Good place to start anyway.

Like I said: balance.

Oh, and if I had more money, I'd own 1000 DVDs.:)

I hear you. About 40 of mine haven't been watched yet. I keep getting more and trying to catch up on the ones I haven't watched. And Extra Features? Who has the time?

Wow, I had never heard of these 50 movie pack sets

Me, either. Just browsing Amazon a little while ago (despite having about 2 dozen DVDs sitting in a box a home, waiting to be viewed), and saw them. Ordered 2 sets.

The Horror and the Chills ones. (Only because I saw Deep Red in one of them, so I did the twofer)

And Sextette and Beneath The Valley Of The Ultra Vixen. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Oh. Oh. Deep Red. I saw it when it first came out, so I might be misremembering, but talk about low budget. There's a scene in a diner. Camera on the main characters. In the background, the rest of the clientele are mannequins.

I think. It was 1976, so give me a break.

:)
