So, here I sit with 350 DVD copies of Torn

The few that were ordered last week will be sent this morning. I had a personal situation that held me up for a few days.

Hey Terry, you didn't get your yet? That's very strange! Let me know if anything changes over the next two days, if not I'll resend a few more copies again. Sorry about that Terry.

Oh sure, Terry Terry Terry! I ordered mine April 25th. Do I gotta start bangin' my cowbell to get some sympathy?

Actually, I used to play cowbell professionally on the NY club scene. I was damn good, man...

Ullanta,
You didn't get yours either?!?!?! What the hell?

Let me know if there's any change over the next day or two and if not then I'll resend again.

That's so strange that some guys got it but other haven't......

Hey Jay,

Just got to watch TORN. Sorry it took me so long. I don't see many comments on it yet, so I hope people post their thoughts.

I have to watch it again, because right now I was watching it on a 12" powerbook with no headphones, so I didn't get the best sound out of it. But I got the basics of it very well.

I have to say that I enjoyed it. It was a bit artsy and the story was fairly simple, but I went to film school in Canada so I'm truly OK with that. :) In all seriousness it took a pretty simple story and added a good dose of human emotion, which is a winning combination. Just like architecture or design, doing something in a simple, but effective form is actually very difficult.

Besides being soft a lot (35mm adapter?) and having some dolly shaking (which didn't seem inteintional) I think it was really good. You have a very good eye for your shots and even your close-to-axis shots found good in and out points. Very cool. I didn't pick up the tell-tale amateur elements since you know how to move the camera. That's not saying that you're an amateur, it's just that so many indie projects have that look.

This may sound stereotypical, but the girl/girl kissing scene was very well done. I'm not being stupid, it actually felt passionate and well shot. I would honestly link a TORN site up to as many gay and lesbian sites as you possibly can. You could make a lot of cash. Not that it's necessarily anything other than a love story, but since you have to girls kissing......

Best of luck.

Later,

Jason

Hey Barry, Jay probably just felt bad 'cuz I was one of the first to buy it but one of the last to receive it. It's all good, I'm sure it will be here this week. It takes a while for the Pony Express to get things here on occasion. :)

Jay, totally off topic, but cool avatar. Too bad we'll be missing each other by one day in Aruba ... would have been cool to hang out. I'll try not to trash the place too badly before you get there. :)

insanityfw, thank you so much for sharing your views on the short. There's many things that I attempted to do artistically in the film, some worked and others didn't pan out as well.. lol.... I did secure a site for the film but there's an issue with the writer/nut job producer so I doubt that this film will ever go further than original the 350 copies.

Terry, I do feel bad. That's horrible that it didn't get there yet. If nothing arrives today then PM me and I'll resend more.

Envision, Yeah that would of been great if we could of met up there. We could of spent some time on the beach talking film crap over a few drinks while the wives BS'd about wax. lol Maybe next time my friend.

dotconnproductions, PM me your info. I looked through the list of people who ordered and couldn't find that email address. I'm not saying that you didn't order, I just couldn't find the email address.

Thanks guys

Oh and John, Jamiel, Patrick & Paul,
I sent you guys an email.

Oh, you know, any excuse to tell stories of my cowbell glory days...

I got my Torn DVD in the mail last night Jay, thanks.. I haven't watch it yet, probably watch it over the weekend, then I'll give you my Siskel&Ebert... I have one question though, what did you use to print the image on the DVD? And How did u do it, Real Pro like.

Got mine today, THANKS DOOD! I'll post my 2 cents here as well. You used a Letus35 or something with this right? Any other gear you'd care to share with the group (me)?
