am i missing someting? the video works fine and i can tell that the audio cables have a signal but i cant hear crap on the tv.....are my rca jacks jacked??
please help/.......

do you have a mixer you could plug the rca's into and see what the signal coming out of those is like?? Even an old VCR sometimes has audio meters on them, you could look at the readings on those and see.

another idea...
Do you have another DV camera?? if so, you could plug in the RCA's to the other DV cam, and do a capture through that cam into your NLE. Check the audio that way.

tried that. nothing. every so often i hear a really distorted but low volume audio out of the right channel.....any ideas anyone?????????

Either your cables are bad or your VCR or whatever you're using is bad (the connection). Try the camera and the rca's on a different tv, vcr, etc..

Have you checked the VCR camera settings, to make sure the audio is going out?

I didn't see your reply to this suggestion. There is a setting in the menu for audio out that the camera must be set to in order to play an external source through the RCA jacks. I don't have the camera in front of me so I can't tell you exactly where on the menu it is, but just look around. Good luck. Henry mindfulproductions.com
