BLIK - An Audiovisual Short Film

Hey folks

Haven't slept for about 40 hours. Just finished up principle photography for a short short (about 2 1/2 min) I'm doing as a final project in a film course...

Now what you are going to see is a very rough cut. I still have to refine the editing, add some filler shots, match the CC in some places and other nips and tucks...

I wrote some voice-over for the film whitch I'll be recording tomorrow, but I'm not sure I'll be using it though...I wrote it into the screenplay for the sake of pacing and staying on theme visually...

SOME FACTS:

The project is more of an audio-visual art piece rather than a short film per-se. My friend is a musician and we've been looking for something to do togeather for a little while. Then this assignment came up and all of this came togeather VERY quickly. Way to rushed for my taste, but you have to make do.
So basically we took turns. Me making visuals to his music and him writing the music to the visuals.

So the film itself is a strange beast in itself.

*It's all shot in location in Reykjavík, Iceland
*All, stock PAL DVX100AE, in 25p with Cinegamma on.
*Editing and CC all done on Premiere Pro (normally use Vegas)
*Shot the bulk of the character stuff a little over 3 hours ago (at 5:30 in the morning)

Anyway, I was trying to go for a surrealistic dreamscape expirience. A disjointed look into someones head for a very short time. hope that doesn't come off too contrived ;)

Anyway, all feedback, suggestions, critique, praise very welcomed...I'm showing it on monday, so I have tomorrow to shoot some extra filler and tidy everything up

oh yeah, and the music is being rearranged a bit to fit the piece a little better..

I loved it...the visuals were awesome..and it gave me some wierd creepy vibes. It feels like it just ends tho and needs something else to make it all make sense. But the visuals I really liked them all and I'm glad I watched.

Krummi;

Great job! I really liked it! Music and movies went very well together - well coordinated! make sure to post the final version here for us to see.

I like the concept, what I got from it was the following themes "forgotten love", "loneliness", "isolation".., but you ended it nicely with the couple coming together. To add more impact I would have like to see a litttle more "antaganism" - like doing a short clip of the couple running in opposite directions. This would add to the build-up.

Great use of still camera shots! Also, at the end, I agree it needs a little more, maybe you're planning that anyways since you said it's not done.

-Keep it up!

This was really nice! Ditto to the kudos everyone else gave! Just one question, what was that crackling sound at about 1:34 during one of the eyes-closed scenes?

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm just finishing the film now. Waiting for the composer to make some changes to the music for me.. I drew out the ending a little bit, filled it up, and hopefully made it more coherent. I also matched the CC a little better and tightened the editing in a few shots. I think it's coming togeather now..

Will post when completed!

Ok, Final version. Refined editing and color correction, plus a reworked soundtrack to better fit the pacing of the film..

Enjoy
