Hey there everyone,

For a film I'm working on I would like to get some night shots in the rain. What kind of equipment/settings would you recommend so I can get the best shots possible. In particular, I really want to capture the streaks of light on a really wet street and such.

What equipment/settings would be recommended here (aside from a rainslicker, I'm considering getting a Portabrace)? Thanks.

What's your budget? If you have a few bucks and a genny, get a 12K HMI, Condor, and a few 4ks. Place the 12K with diffusion and some CTB in the condor about 25-30' in the air, and beam it down on the desired location, placement all depends on how you want you shadows.. Try and place it so you don't have to move it the whole night as well! That will take care of your overhead/backlight. Take your 4k's and light your scene (key/fill).

This camera eats light for dinner, so if your really trying to light a large area, you need a boatload of light..

As for your settings, It all depends on what look your going for.. I haven't done any "wet" scenes with the HVX yet, so someone else might be able to give you some input on that.. But SC file 6 seems to look great.. Maybe 1/45th for your shutter, and shoot as wide open as possible to get the least Depth Of Field.

If you really want to see the raindrops, you really need that over head light. If you cant afford it, it will be really tough to get that look. To see the streaks on the street, keep your detail high.

KEEP DRY! WORK SAFE! Keep all your Ballasts/lights DRY! Keep cables out of puddles, Learn how to use the condor and it's extenion arm properly to avoid it tipping!

hvx eats light for dinner? with 12K's of power he wont have to worry too much about light loss.

If anyhtign i would reccomnd you geyt water proof boots, and just in casse, put on a pair of socks then put a plastic shopping bag over your foot, then put on another pair of socks. Wet feet is the most miserable thing when your working.

Night shot.. dinner.. the 12k in the sky is the night shooters best friend..

I'm still trying to understand your post.. are you saying that my suggestion of using a 12k is good or bad?
