Firefox Flicks Commercial.....

Mr. Blonde

RED Advocate
I recently had the chance to shoot a commercial for the Firefox Flicks contest using my HVX200. The shoot went very smoothly and all the fears that the director and producer had about P2 went out the window when they saw how efficient the P2 workflow was and how beautifully the HVX performed in all conditions.

The flick entitled "Improve" is currently ranked third with three weeks of voting to go. It can be viewed at:

Beautifully done Mr. Blonde! I love the match shot from the old woman to the little girl. Did you use and M2 or similar? How 'bout post production? It looked like a little Magic Bullet going on(?). I'd love to hear more about the shoot and edit.

Thanks Darwin, there was no use of a 35 adapter. All the shots were fully zoomed in for shallow dof.

As far as post prod. goes I played no part in it, I just camera opd. the shoot.

To my knowledge they used Final Cut along with adobe after effects.

It was shot at +2 detial with +2 coring. The rack shot was done with the Bebob Foxi which is THE BEST $500 I've spent on a tool thus far for the HVX.

Get on there and vote for the flick guys, help an HVX entry win. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Hey Mr. Blonde,

I also shot and directed one of these (shot two of them actually). There's no "winning" anymore... the judges already announced their winners a week or two ago. The voting serves no real purpose except to get a little extra exposure.

Congrats, though. Your commercial is by far the most professional looking of the bunch.

my compliments Mr. Blond. seeing work like this from other DVX members only reinforces the reasons i visit here so much.

It's great to know that so many talented people here, at the end of the day what ever the topic or opinions posted/debated, are a credit to our craft.

Good Work!.......

Confused. Why increase the detail; in video we always turn it down, not up. Whether it's Varicam-F750-900 or the H1 we always go down to reduce hyping on the edges etc...?

Hey Pappas, the client wanted a bit more "punch" to the image. The +2 setting seems to give it a bit more of a pop around the edges which he liked.

After shooting on the HVX for a couple months now, I'd just keep the detail level at -1 or 0 with coring at +1 or +2.

Many HVX owners shoot at + and - settings, so I can't say that there is a real "IT" setting as of yet.

That was mad nice, I had to give it 5 stars! Good work, they should buy that off you to use on tv.
