WOW! STUNNING Z1 footage!!

Well if the Natress and gamma plug-in's are only compatible on Mac, what alternative is their for PC users to achieve the same result?

Color timing. Shouldn't be too difficult to get similar color results with minimal tweaking.

Frederic Haubrich

I invited Frederic Haubrich, the director and co-writer, to speak to our little Princeton MCA-I group last week and he is a fascinating speaker who has a good deal of expeirince with HDV. He also developed and owns Lumiere HD software, which was used to capture the 50i footage and convert it to 25p. It was then slowed down to 24p and the audio was pitch massaged. The clip on the website is pretty awesome, and the film is still being edited, thus the audio flaws. Frederic is attempting to submit the film to the Cannes festival when it is fully edited.

This is from memory, and the actual details may be different. You may contact Frederic at frederic@lumierehd.com if you want to know the real deal, or just invite Fred to respond to this thread.

I saw the Tomorrow is Today trailer all over NAB. On the Sony booth and at special events like the LAFCPUG.

Fredrick is a very talented guy... Spent some good time with him at NAB (he btw in case you didn't know is high up in the RED team)

Talented Director, Smart guy and knows cinema. I cant wait to see more stuff out of him.

Hi everyone.

Thanks for the compliments on the trailer. Hopefully you'll like the film.

A very interesting coincidence hapenned on the way back to the Vegas airport ride with Jarred.

I gave him a copy of the DVD for his review and we realized that he shot Scout's (our star) other film "Sleepover".

What are the odds of that?

Any questions are welcome... I'll answer them the best I can.

Go shoot a movie!!!

Fred,

Remember me? I wrote to you regarding a sample 35mm transfer from your footage. After the initial responce you seem to lose interest. I still like to see some of your footage on 35mm.

Maheel,

Good to hear from you. Sorry, I didn't loose interest at all but I got so busy with finishing the film and preparing for NAB.

I am now in a much better position to provide you with footage for a film out.

Please contact me via email again and we'll figure out the best approach.

Fred,
Unbelievable footage in a great trailer. You shot in one of my favorite places, I stay down there every year... So, right off of the bat I like the film without even seeing it, which I would love to do, by the way. Question, the FX1, can it capture the same footage, look wise as the ZU1? I'm torn between the DVX100b, which is a great camera in it's own right, and the HDV format...Thanks and luck to you!

Lake Films,

Yeah the shore is an amazing place. As a matter of fact, the trailer is pretty old and I feel that there are so many more shots I would include now that the film is finished.

You know how it is, the first thing you cut is a trailer in order to psych yourself up for a year of editing. ;)

The Z1 can shoot 50i which the FX1 cannot. We shot 50i because it's a straighter path to 24p.

I've seen some footage from the new Panasonic but I wasn't too impressed honestly. Others feel differently. The main issue for me is the lack of resolution in the image sensor.

This is why we are making the RED ONE. :)

Salut Frederic!

Salut Manu, Manu or Emanuel?

The DVD is alredy in the netflix inventory so for those in the US, add it to your cue if you'd like to see it.

It's a cross between Eric Rhomer and Robert Redford.

Soon in europe I hope.

We have some important meetings with distributors coming up.

We might also look at the possibility of some festivals.

Ici Emanuel speaking!

We'll be waiting here in Europe and we are very happy for your achievements at the other side of the Atlantic: as filmmaker, as Lumière leader and now as RED team player! J'ai été très heureux de voir...I was proud to see your name there.

About film festivals crossing Europe, here is two tips:
Rome International Film Festival LINK
Indie Lisboa LINK

Bonne Chance!
Emanuel

EDIT -- To Lisbon unfortunately just for 2007 'cause the 2006 edition was over this/last weekend but to Rome the submissions are open.
