Dramatic 8 vehicle fire & explosions caught on DVX

I was coming home from a Steady Cam lesson in S.F. and I caught this footage last night. I have sold it to many networks. You will be seeing parts of it on TV news. I have been up most of night involved with a news feeding frenzy.

It was shot in 720, 24P

The fire was caused by an out of control vehicle which hit a parked car & motorcycle. The motorcycle fell over and leaked gas which ignited and ran down the hill setting 8 vehicles ablaze. One person was killed and another may not survive.

wow... A major tragedy...


But that's some darn stock footage. Not sure ethically how that is, but from a production standpoint...
 
Geez, must be the time for out of control motorcycles. Just last night, right down the street from me, on the famouse Alki Blvd, a motorcycle got out of control, and crashed into a group of rollerbladers, killing one of them, and the motorcyclist himself. I didn't get it on tape though, whats up whith all of that.

I got $1500 for a shot of a lady hanging out of her window in FL from my balcony.. They didn't want to give me anything, and gave me this whole, "sir, its news, people NEED to see this, its not something you should really make any financial gain from" I was like ok, "so you don't get paid for yapping about my shot that you didnt pay for? (silence), $1500 and it's yours.. and you gotta come get it"
They did..

I agree. This is something that is unique and certainly news/cinematic. I think you might want to talk to Mike at motionzoneHD... and or other places....


Or... shoot a scene before and after and use this as some stock footie... I got a demolition going off, but it was an obstructed view so not the greatest... otherwise would have been used in something...
 
I've only seen one vehicle ablaze and that was when I was on my way to a
rock concert. Strange, car on fire in the middle of the freeway. I was driving on
the overpass, missed the mess entirely but saw everything. It's really a
creepy site.

I was in my Volkswagon Bus when it caught fire and within 30 seconds the thing was a giant fireball. Totally burned up the engine and the entire backseat... plus it melted my water housing. That made it suck really really bad. Looked like I took the thing into a burning building... ahhh..

Neuro... congrats on landing that cash. If you double it with other sales.. that pretty much pays for almost half of the camera... Not too shabby.
 
Cool footage. I'm glad that no one died. The video has a very cinematic quality. I wonder how it looks/looked next to regular SD crappy news footage. This must have been the nicest footage to ever air on a local news broadcast! Did the viewers think they were watching a clip from a movie trailer?

Very good footage indeed...and you got paid 1200? Thats about what, one of your p2 cards already paid off I guess? I'm going to start carrying my DVX everywhere now.
