What brand of filters work best (if any) with the DVX100b?

I got a UV thrown in when I purchased the camera (Marumi, but I'm not sure of their quality) but I'm looking for a Polariser now. Wondering what you guys use and are there any special types to get/avoid? For instance, are normal width polarisers OK with the DVX given it's wide angle, or should I got for a slim onw?

Cheers

I have a Tiffen UV filter and what a waste of money that was. It has a horrible reflection of the inner lens when shooting in bright sunlight. Go for B+W Multicoted, worth every penny.

Yeah I've heard that multicoat is the way to go. One thing that I didn't take into account when upgrading to a DVX100b, 72mm from 58mm, is the rather large increase in filter costs! Dunno if this Marumi UV I have is gonna have the same problem as the Tiffen you've got.

my tiffen UV is just fine and i'm sure they work for the many cinematographers that use them. am i saying they are the only filter to use? no. it's all a choice, but if they were that bad then first they wouldn't be in business and second cinematographers wouldn't recommend them. along with several pro photographers.

i'm not saying they're the only or the best, but don't think they're garbage.

Tiffen might do a Multicoated and a normal Glass version. That could be where the differences come into play.

Looking at the multicoated prices of B+W at B&H, it's insane. US$154 for a slim version.

I do actually justify spending some money on a good UV filter. The one I have is Hoya, I think, and it totally sucks. The last thing you want when trying to capture a beautiful sunset is filter reflections! :(

I use Cokin drop- in filters a lot. They 're made out of resin instead of glass, which keeps costs down. I know some folks like to knock resin filters. I've used both glass and resin in front of my DVX, and I can't see a difference. Resin does scratch easily though.

Thats true. I used both the cokin filter ,and the screw on filter.
mine is skylight b+w..the white light might seem to be a bit pink according to some.
