For those waiting for Expresscard to PCI in Macbook Pro

For those waiting for Expresscard to PCI expansion card. Here is the info that they provided.

"Our engineering department is working diligently on releasing the eCard solution for current expansion systems to work with the MacBook Pro. Our engineering department has been developing an eCard-54 solution for release due in the next couple of months. Apple surprised us by coming out with an eCard-34 slot instead of the eCard-54 slot that the PC world has designed into their new laptops. After the eCard-54 release, they will have an eCard-34 release by July this year."

The company's link is http://www.mobl.com/expansion/products/expresscard_expansion/

I believe there are other companies working on this as well.

Good news. As I checked out right now: the 17-inch model wo´nt have a P2-slot neither. But it will have firewire 800: Does anybody know it that will speed up downloading data from the HVX?

I don't think that first one (eCard) will work -- it seems to be an adapter to PCI, not to PCMCIA/CardBus.

The second one (duel-systems) is exactly what we've been waiting for though.

Apple is so ahead our time

Apple is so ahead our time

So, how to import P2 to mac BookPro? To powerbook, it took under 4 min, via PCI, to import 4GB P2 card. So I have two cards and it's quite fast to operate with HVX 200. One P2 copying while another shooting. I was thinking to buy MacBook Pro but I have to pass it by, if only way is import via FireWire. So your camera is reserved for copying...

Apple Intel's seems to be so new, that I think it will pass pass our time. Just wondering, that all I know, who are using mac, are doing raw job with Macs, photgraphers, art designers, desktop publishing etc... new macs are not working well with adobe CS, untill 2007 spiring, ...when Mac BookPro will be old... hope PAL 720P supprot will come before 2007 or maeby apple will release FCP 5.5 only for intel macs ,with PAL 720P support, to sell us new machines...

I hate online translators.

Yeah, I liked this:

Duel’s CompactFlash Adapter easily converts the 50 pin CompactFlash into a standard 68 Pin Type II Card. The adapter can be inserted into any Type I or Type II PCMCIA slot. Our rugged, sonically-welded frame kit provides a stronger bond than glue or snap together packages, thus protecting the integrity of the manufacturer’s warrantee.

Future Products

Duel is actively developing three new adapter devices:

An adapter to connect a CompactFlash Card to the new ExpressCard interface.
An adapter to connect a current PCMCIA card to the new ExpressCard interface.
An adaptor to connect the new ExpressCard interface to a standard USB type “dongle” plug.

Johan's doing the best he can, many of our international members do the best to try to communicate in their non-native tongue, and I think he did fine...

Taubkin pointed out the product that we're waiting for, from duel-systems.com, which will be an adapter that lets Macbook Pros directly read P2 cards.
