Horizontal Lines on footage - DVX-100B

New Findings:
I tried a number of different settings. Here is the bottom line.
If I shoot in 24p and capture with pull down removal it improves it slightly (by one frame) but that's it.

If I shoot in 24p(advanced) and capture with pull down removal, it WORKS GREAT! no lines what-so-ever.

I tried it with different scene modes as well.. the only thing that worked right was changing each time to 24p(advanced)

I will see what the differences are with using different time line settings, but that will be tomorrow.

Thanks again for all your help. I know now my camera is fine!

I would say that this post should be moved over to the FCP forum, as this is more an issue with FCP than with the DVX. I have seen it come up many times before, and David is infact, right on the money. The problem is that FCP takes a very BassAckwards way of working with 24P footage with pulldown. Now, if you were using vegas, this really wouldn't be a problem, but I don't want to start that war again.

Did you try changing your upper and lower fields capture setting?

I didn't try that because it was set to use the lower fields and everything I read said that was correct. Does it make sence to still try that?

DVX uses lower field first. If you use Premier you can right click on a clip in the timeline and under Fieldd Option select reverse fields. Play the clip. If Field dominace is wrong you will see it right away. But if as yous asy you are captureing and outputing (and editing) in lower filed firts you are in the right mode.
