Yes I'm afraid I have another adaptor.

Cna i use a different lens>?

Cna i use a different lens>?

Hi
I have built one using macro rings and step up rings. I had to glue 2 Cokin P things together to get the thread "out" then stepped down to 49mm then glued to an old filter without the filter to a macro ring. i put the screen in some other macro rings 42mm away from the fitting of the lens. I get an image - using AOL type plastic - but i have to zoom in to like 96.. My question is do i have to use the canon lens as I am using a pentacon 2.8/29? does that make a difference..

I have been reading this thread for the last few days and its mad!!
So much effort and ingenuity!
It inspired me!
cheers

it does look a little soft, your footage.

also marlene: Why do alot of 35mm adapter footage have extremely blownout whites. Or just parts of the footge that are brighter than the toher always seem blown out even though it seems as though it shouldnt be over exposed?

I think the ones with blown out whites are the result of focus screen allowing too much light through. I made a too thin wax screen and that was the result. You try and compensate by stopping down or raising your shutter speed but the whites are still blown. Anyway....just my guess as to what the cause is....at least some of the times.

Rock on!

>Rods are 100mm apart and the rest is... about the same

Why 100mm?

Because he wants to use the camera plate and rods he has from his Arriflex (aside from the set of primes) and those are 100mm apart. Oh yeah, I aslo had to match the height for that set-up so he can use his MB as well.... custom work keeps me sharp (in focus that is)

Note to Snodart: You rock! Good job on getting that vibrating adapter built in record time. I'm going to build one similar but with a Beattie as soon as my work gets a little less intense. It won't be an MPIC, but it will be about as close as us DIY can get on a budget.

Thanks. I pulled some late nighters. I guess I need to go research the MPIC. I'm still pretty new to 35mm adapters and haven't seen much about it. Thanks for the great info jon.

Dan,

I would like to follow your performance as well in you on-line 35mm academy!

Best regards to everyone.

Dan,

Not to veer too far off topic, but I thought the industry standard is 15mm x 60mm wide x 85 mm to lens center. Is he using 19mm rods (which might be different?!?)
I'm just asking because I'm building my own rods and trying to match industry standard.

To stay on topic... I just got my aluminum oxide and am expecting my shipment of filters and adpaters today, hopefully I can have something for a shoot this weekend!!!

That's right for 16mm cameras (adopted to video). But he has a 35mm Arriflex and the plate and rods (15mm) are 100mm apart. MB and lens height are higher as well.
Different "beast".

Dan,

if I'm not mistaken, you invited couple of pages behind, to follow on-line your art of making mpiz. If that wasn't just for teasing, I'd join you and others who showed interest, gladly.

Best regards,
nenaD

Well, I only saw you and someone else showing interest and I thought it may have not been such a good idea as I initially thought.

Seems like this thread has gone OT on making a 35mm adapter. Should be another thread for subjects such as rods for supporting adapters.

OT?! The whole thing is off topic. :D I see what you mean, but this thread has gone all over the place. Still a fun one to read.

Dan, if I hadn't been counted before I'll voice my support again of your idea to show how to make an adapter.

I think preety much anything relating to the subject should be here instead of breaking the info all over the forum into hundreds of "other" threads. If one has a question or a finding about height of lens relative to rods for ex, I think it only make sense to be here instead of starting a new thread (for one question)

Wow.....guess I really got told off.....I didn't see that coming. Not sure what made you so mad Dan other than you really took my comment the wrong way. I don't think I deserved that sort of slam.

Good luck to all on making your adapters, time for me to step aside.

Here we go again, Dan has hurt yet another great DIYer that has actually imparted knowledge apposed to his snide and off putting grandiloquent and boastful remarks.

Noooooo Marlene don't go!

You have been open, helpful and an asset to this thread far more then dan. Don't let his raving rants of rude criticism and pompous smugness end your input to this thread's on going discourse and tutorials. He if anyone else should step aside.

The way he dangles his "knowledge" and "expertise" and then retracts it is just f**king rude. YOU, marlene have helped and enhanced this area with tutorials, and helpful experiments. Your explorations on the subject has been incredibly valuable.

Way more valuable and informative then the majority of dan's posts that I have read over the past 2-3 years. His web Site has dead links and is a chaotic mess. I can only imagine what his business practices are like.

I can also only come to the conclusion that given his "input" here and elsewhere that he is one of those bitter, competitive people that feel they are the only voice of reason and "True" knowledge. Using this "wisdom" to tease, confuse, and deflate other people's journeys.

Please stay Marly, and keep helping me and others. Your input and presence here, represent what this area of DVXUSER is about. Helpful ways to encourage the DIYer.

Maybe we all should group together a Manhattan project and create an adapter that rivals Mr. Diaconu's. Their aren't that many ways to spin a disc. Right? And then post all the details and let others improve on that design.

boy I AM p*ssed off.

uh....like what the heck? What drama! Boys and girls...I don't see where you get that Dan was rude or pissed off. He just gave you a straight answer as he always does...everyone should just chill and get a check your emotions.

It was just his opinion but I don't believe he was an ass about it.

its hard to tell, thats what emoticons are for. cant tell if someone is being sincere, sarcastic blah blah blah.

but there are still ways of explaining things keeping in mind someones feelings might be hurt. just by being nice, with open explanations. No one wants an answer from a machine, were peeps too.

this doesnt just apply to this thread, but in general.

Dan edited his post after he got my attention.....what you're seeing is NOT what he really said, now making me look like I need a check on my emotions. Dirty trick Dan.
