But how does it attach to my rods?
evinsky said:Affordable yes, but he wanted good. Chroziel is the most well made and will last the longest. They also offer the most options, I find that if you work your gear you want things that last.

I've had my rant.......
evinsky said:Tried the Vocas, sorry it's sh!te. Go Chroziel or Arri or if you want cheap at least the Cinetactics is clever and lightweight. I have one for my DVX anamorphic lens.
Cut2muz said:I second that, crafty use of material. The matte box I ended up with is a Format with and 82mm ring adapter. It was part of a sweetened deal and I have to say it's worked out well. Doesn't have rods but is affordable and has a 2nd filter holder that rotates 360 for polarizers.

Best bang for buck is Petroff 4x5, 2-stage. More flexible, lighter and durable than equiv Chrosziel. And of course much less expensive.
quick summary:
The Petroff will do both Rod and Clamp-On work. Chrosziels won't.
Petroff, every stage is rotating - Chrosziel 1-stage rotates
Petroff replacement MB parts are on average about 20% the cost of the Chrosziel.
With the Petroff you can add another rotating stage at any time - With Chrosziel you have to buy a new box.
When I worked at Wexler and Moviola I purchased about the same number of Petroff and Chrosziel MBs, around 40 or so of each. I had plenty of customers who 'had to have Chrosziel', it was what they knew. Fine. My (shall we say) sharper clients chose the Petroffs. Guess which brand needed far less repair work? I'll give you a hint, it starts with a P.
