BMW Films fan-film preproduction

Hi everyone. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, cause these shots are taken with an EOS 20D, not a DVX, but it seemed like the closest match. Anyhoo, a friend and I have been planning for a BMW Films fan-film to be shot in May, and these shots are too cool not to share.

It's a Filmtools light weight Universal car mount. We have done some driving tests and everything looks very promising. You would be surprised how solid this mount is. We are shooting in May over several weekends, so there is no footage to speak of yet, but I know where to show it when it is ready! And don't worry, I am also in the process of rigging tethers, padding and lens protectors.

Wow, I've tip toeing around getting a one of their rigs. This has pretty much convinced me.

Can't wait to see some footage!

Tell me more about these BMW fan films? I have the Clive Owen DVD and the short BMW films are highly stylized and really great.

It looks like you'll get very stable footage from that rig. Are those all 4.5" suction cups? On the filmtools web site the 4.5" are rated at 10 lbs but the 6" is rated at 70 lbs. Pretty big difference -- although so is the price. Is this the link to the rig you're using if anyone is interested?

By the way, Serif, have you thought about an effective way to get driver perspective views. If so maybe you could post a setup. It's a challenge to drive and have a camera mounted on the headrest. Might get a ticket if you get caught. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) Something like this might work but you need to get the camera more to the driver's seat.

Look forward to seeing some footage.

Howdy, I'm the other guy working on this project.

Two of the cups are 4.5" and I believe that they're rated at 40lbs. One of them is the 6"er. And yeah, that's the kit.

As for a way to get the driver perspective, we do have this setup for getting directly between the seats. :)
