Crop circles?

So I came across this documentary about crop circles this weekend. There were tons of different explanations, from aliens to static electricity. So what do you guys think it is? As aliens would have to travel a lot faster than the speed of light to get here, I'm certain that's not the case. However, what force being able to do this, I do not know.

Whatever being able to do this, it must be a genius when it comes to geometry.

I think it's better understood unexplained. I would rather have my imagination come up with something great than know some guy spent weeks on creating a symmetrical geometric shape.
 
I feel it's been pretty well established that it is all a hoax.

crop circles are caused by a bunch of hoaxters with a blue print and some planks of wood to flatten the grass.
 
Yes, there have been many documentaries over the years that have shown individuals using homemade tools to flatten the wheat in a relatively small window of time, but if you'd rather use your imagination to believe in aliens, then party on... :)
 
It's not hard to do complex geometry when you have a fixed point and a taut rope. Basic construction techniques.
 
I saw one with my own eyes in the desert when flying in to Vegas a couple of years ago. It was an Aztec type design in the desert. Aztec mask with a small body. What would make someone think to create something like that is the mystery and how they pull it off I'd like to know.

Remember the movie Close Encounters? Remember how "Roy" was driven to create Devils Tower in his living room? Ohhhh.. Spooky..

Anyway, the real Devils Tower is one hell of a sight. The indians claim a giant bear clawed the sides of the tower to get to the indian princess and the tower rose out of the ground to save the princess as the bear clawed it trying to get to her. I love the lore...

Pettersen ? Tell me you do not really think aliens fly here is mysterious spacecraft only to make crop circles in farmers fields ?
 
If it's a hoax, all credit to the hoaxters. They got me. :)

Still though, doing something like that, at night, only using a couple of hours is pretty amazing. And what about the magnetic fields, which have been proven, around these circles?


Edit: No, I never thought it was aliens.

Thats the closest I can come from quoting from the movie Signs, lol.

Anyway, I believe its done by people, I saw it on tv, how this guy made a sun flower on his crop circles, which looked amazing, if he can do it, alone, I'm sure many others can too.
 
The jury is still out for me on this one. Planks and string?..I'm not buying into that argument nor aliens. Planks and string, considering all the known factors about these event is like saying the northern lights are performed with flashlights and mirrors. I'm suspecting something we are unaware of as in some sort of choatic magnetic microburst connected with our changing environment or something along those lines.
