Got my HVX today, but how do I stream HD to PC?

Sorry to ask a pretty basic question and I don't mean to jack the thread but what the hell editing system works with this camera?

You mean Firewire based or.....

Because Avid Media Composer Adrenaline and DS Nitris do... they're not firewire based nor cheap. And Avid Express Pro HD does work with it you just can't use 720p/23.976 or 1080p/24 unless you capture through Media Composer Adrenaline.

Avid Express Pro HD 5.2 was designed to work with P2 (it's just not able to capture the two major frame rates for itself (which doesn't make sense.) ). Anything higher by Avid will run P2 completely.

Thanks for the info on avid systems but=....

I mean what system can handle the files off the p2 without a lot of converting around?

Every system works with it to some degree or other. It's not like HDV where people had to wait nearly two years for support to show up. Edius has 100% native support right now for everything the camera does, FCP has support for everything except I think 1080/30p & 1080/24P (but it does support 1080/24pA), and Avid supports every mode except I think 1080/24p, pa, and 30p. And Premiere and Vegas can work with it if using raylight.

But the best integration is in Canopus Edius Broadcast.

Okay, so in Avid it you can't real-time capture 720p/23.98 or 1080p/24 viia firewire - but if youhave a P2 card you CAN import the data from the P2 card and edit these formats? Right?

Edius 3.61 the best

Edius 3.61 the best

I have tried with canopus 3.61 demo with hd support and it works perfectly.

Is the canopus hd codec the same quality as mxf format or make some kind of compression? Because the avi files that it create plays perfectly in my bsplayer.

Ohter small problem is that the canopus has 1080/24p, 1080/50i, 1080/60i, etc but doesn't have 1080/25p for pal hvx version.

I cant see 720/50p hd project too but i will search deeply.

¿Did you know if this is include in the broadcast version?

Thank you

judas77 - unfortunately this is not just a small problem. On the panasonic-broadcast.com website you'll find the following statement:
*Canopus*
“We have committed to support P2 format continuously after the merger of Thomson/ GrassValley group.” said Hiro Yamada, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Canopus. “Edius Broadcast is already supported all possible format in HVX200-60hz model. The 720/25p and 50p editing will be available at the end of June, which brings tremendous benefit for customer to get seamless workflow by EDIUS editing solution.”

I have the production version of EDIUS Broadcast and there is no visible difference with the trial version.

I should receive my HVX200E within the next few days and I guess that I'll be somewhat disappointed because of the missing support. 1080/50i is not my favorite setting.

Raylight+Vegas or Raylight+Premiere work great with 720p25, so no need to be disappointed.
