What's the handling of the HVX 200 like?

DVRIGPRO with two handles all the way!
Soarprod, isn't it possible to operate the DVRigPro by holding just the right handle, so you can have your left hand up by the focus ring/iris? (maybe with a zoom control on the right handle?)

Most important factor in choosing a camera for me is the end result, the images.

HVX can make more impressive images (slo-mo, time lapse, dvcproHD 4:2:2, etc) and any limitations in form factor can be fixed with a simple shoulder mount.

At the end of the day, all anyone who sees your work will care about, all that really matters, is how good the footage looks.

Belloman, that is simply not an issue, because as soarprod said, you only need to buy a shoulder mount to attach the camera to, and you'll have a shoulder mount HVX. Problem solved. I would not shoot handheld without a shoulder mount.

There are many kinds. check out this thread for more info.

A Fig Rig is another great option.

It's all very well saying to get a shoulder mount rig like DVRIGPRO, but these cost alot of money on top of camera cost. Add having to buy a ext mic as well a couple of P2 cards or Firestore drive, it becomes about the same cost as the Canon H1 or much more than the JVC HD100. So is the quality that good to justify all the extra expences?

With the 2 handle DVRIGPro you can hold it with either handle which frees up the other hand. I have a zoom controller mounted on one handle so I can hold it steady and zoom with one hand and use the other hand for focus or exposure adjustments. The rig was about $500 when I bought mine a few years ago.

I'm used to the beta cam and this is one of the few shortcommings of the HVX. But hardly enough to outway the benefits.
I can't wait for NAB to compare the options.
I sure as heck like taking about 60 pounds from my basic camera/battery/charger/tripod gear! I'm getting too old to keep hauling the old gear around.
