MXF is retarded...

Rich Lee

I shoot Pirates.
IMO.

im so anoyed right now...i was able to borrow a friends HVX for a week...and i must say it is a great camera...and the idea of P2 is really really great...

but i cant fricken open anything from the card!

yeah i can veiw it with the p2 veiwer, but the software takes forever to load up and then you only get a small little veiw of the image...and you cant even export...

windows media will play it...but its all stretched and...well...windows media sucks...

im on a pc, so no final cut...no avid either.

premier pro only...

why cant i open in premier? after effects? quicktime!

why the hell doesnt panasonic create a QT plugin for this!!!!!!

why am i able to download a plugin that will let quicktime play 3D ANIMATION! but not an MXF VIDEO file?!

why is my only other option to buy a piece of software to convert everything...which to me kills the idea of the p2 card thingy...cause i have to wait for crap to render...

why use a formatt that is so massivly unsuported?

its a buzz kill!!!

sorry if my spelling is retarded as well...not feeling like checking it.

I feel your pain, but Rich trust me in your hands the HVX is deadly and the images and color information will be more than worth what is at the moment an inefficient workflow. I bought a used student version of AVID to export as QT reference files so I can still use PPRO2, and its a smooth workflow from there. Cheaper than Raylight and Cineform (assuming pricing follows past history).

Buy a mac - easiest solution and you can get working right now - hopefully make some money to pay for it as well. Or, download the edius broadcast software and get 30days to play.

Use Canopus.. they have a free demo that you can rock that footage with. Edius broadcast has really impressed us PC users.
