Full Resolution with HVX

Just double checking... there's no way to view full resolution DVCPRO HD in Avid without a Mojo or DVCPRO HD deck? I know you can't view HD out a monitor using the HVX, but I thought you could at least view full rez on your computer monitor given enough screen space if you had your HVX connected. So... 1/4 resolution editing- that's it?

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm editing 720 24pn. My hvx is connected. I can control my P2 contents with the capture tool, but on the timeline it will only go yellow, or yellow/green... I have "output to firewire" checked. Any help appreciated.

Hardware? I just have the HVX connected by firewire if that's what you mean. I know my firewire card works. DV projects in Avid go through the firewire when connected to a DV camera. I know Avid is also reading my HVX because I'm able to use the capture tool to capture P2 contents.

I was thinking it was a setting on my HVX, maybe?

Okay I seem to have figured it out. The camera must be set at 60P even though it's a 24pn project... also it still doesn't go to green/green mode, but at green/yellow it seems to be at full res or at least much higher res without the HVX connected... Still sucks that I have to connect the HVX just to see full rez on the monitor...

I had a feeling- that's extremely good to hear.

edit:

okay as to not confuse any readers, after fiddling around with avid, I have corrections and clarifications to my earlier posts:

having the hvx connected does not increase your viewing resolution in avid with DVCPRO HD footage (when working with DV footage, having a DV camera connected allows you to select the green/green mode increasing your resolution... not so with DVCPROHD)

if you want to send 720 24pn footage via firewire, your HVX has to be set at 720 60P. The HVX does not allow pass though like with DV cameras- you can't view to an external monitor. You can dub to P2 from avid by firewire and then from there, view on an hd monitor through component.

what Michael is probably referring to at NAB is some way to view HD footage on an external monitor while editing. perhaps a new mojo.

Sorry for any confusion. but i've had little sleep and... avid/hvx workflow is really confusing at this point.
