European Version of the AG-HVX 200

Hi, folks!

I am a newbie in this forum. At the moment I think about buying a HVX 200 camcorder but before I am searching for more and more information. And of course I would like to wait until the price for the P2-cards becomes cheaper.

Hereafter my questions:

1) What pixel-size does have the CCD-chip in the European version?

2) Can I use both the USB-connection and the Firewire-connection for transfering P2-files to the computer harddisk?

3) What is the best price ever seen for the P2 cards (4GByte oder 8GByte) in Europe?

4) I've heard Panasonic will offer also an 16GByte P2-card in October 2006? Is that right?

Sorry, if some of my questions are already responded on dvxuser.com, but I'am a newbie.

Thanks!
Greetings from Germany.

Hi,

welcome.

1) What pixel-size does have the CCD-chip in the European version?

I'm note sure, same as the NTSC version I think, but I think that the codec for PAL resolutions differs in the 720 modes. Anyone else clear on this?

2) Can I use both the USB-connection and the Firewire-connection for transfering P2-files to the computer harddisk?

On a PC you should use the USB2. On a Mac you should use firewire. Don't know why this is (probably the drivers). I tried firewire on my PC and it didn't go well, it said it was going to take 87628423 minutes. USB2 worked lovely.

3) What is the best price ever seen for the P2 cards (4GByte oder 8GByte) in Europe?

I paid 430 UKP + VAT 3 days ago for 4Gb. 8gb was about 940. Shop around a bit you can probabbly get better prices. Availablility is more of an issue right now.

4) I've heard Panasonic will offer also an 16GByte P2-card in October 2006? Is that right?

Don't know. Wouldn't suprise me.

Now that's what I call a very helpful answer !! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

(BTW, I don't have the answers either!!) :)

vis a vis usb etc - you can just plug the p2 into the laptop and drag over the file like a portable drive - you'll need something like the raylight codec as nothing else seems to process these files properly (which is a bit of a drag) but otherwise it works like a dream.
