Spankin New HVX Music Video

Looks good! I could see this being aired on Mtv easily.

I have a feeling that as more and more HDX cameras get out there, we're going to see an abundance of slow motion and time lapse video hitting the mainstream.

Looks good.

A little to much of the light in the lens shot just kind of lost its affect after a while. But I really like it and you guys did a good job with it.

Did you do the timelapes with the cam or a different camera?

I agree with Imgentertainment about light, the sky is too blow out and washed with a "white color". Maybe if you added some ND filter on camera, it would look more good. I don't like the "light burnin' look", but the video is very fine and works with the music.
Cheers:)

I found this to be a very exciting video to watch. The slow motion looked really good, very film-like and I was impressed with the fluid feel of the camera moves.

I don't suppose you would be inclined to post a full size version of the file? :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

The Brad Coder Project is the only thing on his reel shot with the HVX, as far as posting a bigger version Ill check into it but I dont think its gonna happen because of file size. But if anybody knows how to encode the HD so its like apple movie trailers we might do that.

The apple trailers use h.264 - compressor for mac os x does that..

(Isola 2 is incredible, if it's shot with Hvx200 this camera works in evr'y way!)
At first I thought the narrator said "topless lounge" instead of "tapas lounge." Got kind of doubly excited there for a sec! :nads:

First off, I thought that was absolutely wonderful!! Very very very well done. I was just incredibly impressed. The best example so far of how great this thing can look.

And to those complaining about the blown out look or the "too much light" thing, you obviously have never heard of Conrad Hall.

Wow...love it

Wow...love it

I love music videos so much because well...the rules are meant to be broken.

Hmm.. It's odd. I liked the look a lot, definetely MTV ready. But.. There is something missing... Film imperfections? Also, DOF of the HVX' lens keeps bugging me. But hey, the 35mm adapters are available for cheap nowadays.

The more I see things shot on video the more I think of the sound world. Natural distortion and noise in music are often favoured over the clean "digital" sound.. It seems we need noise in our life, we need the dirt to make us happy :). The best audio gear still uses tubes, is usually quite noisy, and produces sound sometimes significantly different from how it sounded originally. Yet, a lot of bands still prefer to record and mix to tape, rather than digital. In the digital world, engineers use tape and tube saturators to make things sound "analogue". So.. Ultimately.. The perfection is in the imperfection?..
Ok, this was my last cigarette, for today :).

Dmirty,
Your talk'n lo-fi. That’s great. In addition, its seems these days we try to " dirty up" to much instead of perfecting art and style, narrative and form. I am sure you would agree that there is a difference between pushing buttons as apposed to developing a style without much DI in between.

No No I like the blown out look, I use it all the time it is one of my favs. I was saying the use of shooting the sun and or light creating lens flairs was a little over done for my tast. Keep the blown out look. Just mix up your shots so not every shot starts off in the sun or light. It is a good video and a really cool look and test of the cam. Congrates just something to think about.

It is what we are use to seeing. We need to see the film grain and the dirt and the scratches. That is what is in the movies and in our head what is shown at the movies is the highest qulity. Now from a cimatographers POV, I like the grain I like the dirt. I like the way film feels. It feels real if that makes any sence. It just gives it life. Now with HD it is different and we are going to have to get use to it. It is a different look, and different feel. Less organic and more metal and steal. It will take some time for the true romance to set in.

Exactly my point! However, in music, especially in rock, a new generation of punk, or rather the school rock, which it is *shivers of disgust* features the more clear 'digital' sound to which the new generation is used to. Is film facing the same fate? The new generations will grow up on the clean video look and consider the film grainy and unnaceptable. Now, with HD DVDs, it will be easier to see how clear HD is, compared to 35mm or 16mm..

It's happened before. Look at vinyls. I still love my vinyls :). *takes out the Nevermind record*

By the way, I was about to say how film makes me feel, but you summed it up quite nicely.

Form, Art, Discipline...(Enough of the yoda talk)

Again, the FX or the lack there of should not be the center of attention. As a DP, I am interested in how the story effects the art and science of cinematography -not so much the other way around. I am constantly asking my self "how will this shot, or affect, or grade, add or subtract to the meaning of the characters involved.” I do realize however that this principle requires discipline to fully comprehend.
Funny though, the technical limitations of yesterday’s filmmakers tend to be the very style we choose to craft today. :costumed-smiley-047:)
