PDW-F350 XDCAM HD/BVW600 Sensitivity Comparison

NAB's only three weeks away... if I were you I wouldn't be making any decisions right now. Lots of action in the 2/3" market, between Red and the SDX price drop and the DSR450 and such...
 
So I thought that the F-350 was able to overcrank at 60 progressive frames per second and playpack at 30 progressive segmented frames per second for slow motion effects all in a 1080i psf stream. In post I suppose the footage could be converted to real 1080p60 stream for that progressive reality look.

...and about the film-like properties? Synthetic videoish style or not at all and the progressive film-look is it possible too?

Aliasing hassle or not at all?

Why does it need a deck to that? The signal from the camera itself -- as a real deck if it works like that, isn't it the same?

Thanks for the tests. It was as I imagined...the 530 in SD does appear to be a superior product in relation to sensitivity, yet it cannot be upconverted in the F70 VTR. Too bad as one would have to go SDI out to a digi beta, then upconvert the digi beta from an SRW/HDW product in order to see SD 530 in HD, instead of a very simple process of putting a disc into the F70 and using the playback. So you lose a generation and then have to rent an expensive VTR to see what the 530 can do in HD. But then there is no variable frame, which appears to be underwhelming based on the halving of resolution over 30 frames...

If the business model is to intro another flavor to the market, then Sony has certainly done it, but will it be a good move from an economics POV?
 
Yes, the 5xx series are much better SD cameras, with much higher sensitivity. The 3xx cameras I find are quite noisy with the gain up too.

However they do produce great pictures. The default settings have a really nice 'warm' look rather than the usual Sony pastel shades. I turned the detail off completely and it still produced a rzor sharp image. So sharp in fact that it could have possibly done with some negative detail! I'm working on finishing the edit of the music video so I'll post a link to that as soon as it is done. To my mind it looks extremely filmlike. But if you leave the detail circuits on you won't get that look.
