It's Official, A New Season!

And for some reason I'm pissed anytime I see someone's list without the Yankees winning it all... If you get an angry PM from me, that's why

At this point, the Yankees have to prove to me that they can do it. Year in, year out they seem to have the best position player team on the field and they still don't do it. They've got a lot to prove before I can pick them to win it all.

When it comes to baseball, I am extremely knowledgable, I played all the way up through college and a couple of days in the minor leagues, and yet when it comes to the pros I am the most biased, closed minded, and short sighted fan there is. I admit it. I am a life long, die hard, and balls to the wall Yankee fan. I take a vacation day every year on openning day because it is my national holiday. Since my family moved from NY, every year my father and I take a trip to the Stadiumin the Bronx because it is my Mecca. I love Yankees baseball, the only reason I have digital cable is so I can get it (although DVR is kind of cool). Last year I watched 124 Yankee games (not including the short post season) and 5 other games. I'm obsessed. I make girlfriends memorize the line up because then they know the team and will watch it with me. I'm insane when it comes to baseball.

That being said, I'm like a Cubs fan who every year picks the Cubs. My picks will never be objective, because every year is the year that my Yankees will win it all.

To me, that's what being a fan is all about :) That and it is this bond between my father and I that goes back as far as I can remember. I love making my films, but if I was given the choice between never shooting anything again and having one day to sit down on the couch and watch a Yankees game with my father, I would take the Yankees game with Dad.

There is nothing sweeter than the sound of Vin Scully's voice floating out over the airwaves. It says baseball is back.

And wtf is going on in Chicago? Opening day rained out?

So many games going on today it is hard to pick which one I want to listen to. If anyone is in Oakland, please make the rain out there stop so I can watch my Yankee's season start off tonight and not need to call out of work sick in order to catch the double header tomorrow if it gets rained out. Here we go... Anyone else want to get their picks in?

-Jeremy

All right. The Dodgers are getting ready to open their season. I'll check back in between innings. :love4:

A lot of people are picking the A's to actually go all the way. Orestrus Estrada, Buck Martinez, and Mark Patrick (Baseball this morning on XM) all picked the A's. Personally I'm sticking with my picks, but they are going to have a good team. Hopefully the Yankees will get the game in against Oakland tonight, the rain is supposed to be nasty though.

Barry- There is a big sign that says "TRADE BARRY" outside Giants Stadium. That's gotta make him feel great.

I'm a die hard Mets fan and it'll be interesting to see what they do this year. Nady went 4-4 today and Wright had a homerun but Beltran/Delgado/Floyd really didn't do anything. Oh well, at least we don't have to deal with Looper and Benson anymore.

You mean Anna Benson, right? Kris filed for divorce. How sad is it in baseball when Anna & Kris Beson getting a divorce is headline news. Thank the baseball gods that the season finally started.

C'mon, if you haven't picked your teams for the season, get your picks posted!

****. ****! Double ****!! Okay, we got our loss out of the way. Tomorrow we start our 161 game winning streak...

EDIT: When did we get the new language filter?

So what do you think of my Yankees now? What a great game, and yet another openning day on the couch next to my father. That is what baseball is all about!

I thought it was a great game and a great way to kick off the season. Tonight I have a rehearsal but that's why there is DVR to record it. Does it make me a completely obsessed fan to not only DVR the games but to also get the scores text messaged to my cell phone at the end of every inning?

yes!:cheesy:

This Yankee / A's match up tonight is a great game. 2 / 2 in the top of the 6th now. Although I loved the blowout last night I love these close games, and I got a feeling we're about to play some small ball.

Question for the baseball faithful:

What would you rather have:
a) Strong pitching
b) Strong power hitting
c) Strong defense
d) Strong OBP%

EDIT:
1:03AM EST -> I take it back. This game sucks balls and was really really bad. Screw that, I want nothing but blowouts from here on out. New prediction 161-1 for the Yankees.
