Importing P2 Card into FCP

I am trying to use the P2 Card by putting directly into the PCMCIA slot in my laptop, but Final Cut Pro 5 does not seem to recognize or allow me to import my work off of the P2 Card. I have heard I need a plug in for FCP to be able to read MXF files off the P2 card. Is this true?

It shouldn't be too problematic going straight from P2 to FCP by way of the PCMCIA, but I am having problems with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

P2 driver download

P2 driver download

I installed the CD that came with my P2 cards onto my Mac, do I still need to go to Panasonic's website and download that driver?

If so, it says enter in the model number and serial number except for P2 cards but it won't let you go to the next page until you enter in a model and serial number. Tell me what I'm doing wrong. I know it's gotta be something very simple. uggh

thanks,

You need to install the P2 card driver (which you can find on Panasonic's website at https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/soft_e.htm.)

Then you need to make sure you're running FCP 5.0.4. If you're using 5.0, it won't work, you need the latest update.

I tried to get that up-date and it kept asking me for the correct ser# which I tried to do first with my A camera and then with my B camera, and it kept rejecting them. I tried all caps, all lower case letters with the numbers and for the O or 0 I did, caps, lower case o and the number 0, nothing worked. The ser# are right off the cameras? Each time I tried to enter them it said "Please enter the correct serial number".
