Strange. At times, my camera when set to servo (and manual focus), will zoom out if I just finish zooming in. I release the either the telphoto button (handle and rocker buttons both do this) then slowly, it begins zooming out.... Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is it just a setting or have I done something to my camera withoug knowing it????

On more than a few occassions, I've been holding the camera from the top and knuckled the zoom control when I thought I was controlling it with my thumb. Each time I've done it, it took a second to register why the camera was zooming "on its own".

Just a thought.

I haven't had this happen with the DVX, but then I don't use the servo zoom on it, but I have another camcorder that if I'm wearing a hat and using the viewfinder, my hat will hit the zoom and away she goes. Freaked me out the few times it happened until I figured out that it was the brim of my hat.

I hear what you all are saying, but... when I zoom in and release the button, it will slowly begin to zoom back out, and arbitrarily stops... this doens't happen all the time.

i use to have a crappy jvc camera that for some reason would zoom out by itself. I was shooting stuff for a fun little video for my band and it was doing it, no idea why, was annoying as hell though. Good luck!

I had it happen to me also, but only when connected to the Bogen remote. I can't remember it doing it when not connected.
