Mic Hand Grips (mount) for DVXuser members.

You may have to wait until the next run... I have three left to put the finishing touches on... and two buyers said they want them. If I finish them and they don't pay... then you can have 'em.

Yes the grip works with boom mics... it's the standard 3/8" threaded stud and hole (at the other end)... you can screw this onto the end of a boom pole or use it handheld and screw it into any standard shock mount. I started making these because of all the people who have bought K-SSM and similar mounts... this is the best way to approximate the Rycote pistol grip softie mount with something they already have.

Matt is that the same size thread you would find on a standard vocal mic stand? I made my own boom pole, and that's what size the thread is on the end

Some mic stands have a big 5/8" thing with fine threads... there's no mistaking the difference between the 3/8" and the 5/8". The grip threads are standard 3/8-16 threading... just like ANY boom pole out there. It's also the same threading as the K-SSM or K-SM or virtually any shockmount out there... again for some studio applications those mounts come on a 5/8" fine thread deal... but those places usually sell adapters to bring that down to size.

I'd check to be sure, but all you need to know is that these are 3/8-16 threads. Some places say "Whitworth" threads or something like that (like Rycote says for their grip or some boom manufacturers say for boompole ends) but that's like Cadillac saying "Corinthian Leather"... Whitworth is a company which makes taps and dies... so if I tap my grip with a Whitworth cutter then I guess I should start calling mine "Whitworth" also... it sounds so provential.

Down here in a little place I like to call unfiltered reality... it's a 3/8-16 thread.

Hey didn't I send you some FETs for the Scott Dorsey Oktava mod a couple years ago? Your last initial is R correct? Man I'd be HAPPY to help you out! I'll hook you up just for old time's sake. Did you ever get an Oktava? I don't remember what ever happened with that.

Let me see what the shipping charges are. I'll send you one just for shipping alone. This time when I write "gift" on the customs declaration it will be the 100% truth.

I just checked the USPS website and it looks like it shouldn't be more then $11.60 to send one of these via Airmail Letter Post... and as best I can tell it's okay for me to use a small box for the "letter"... and the best part is it says "4-7 days". So there you go... if you do Paypal I'll have one on the way to you tomorrow.

Glad you like it... I know it's not a very technical bit of gear... but I think it's pretty decent considering the price. (especially when compared to the $35 grips)

Yeah Matt, it was me (I've been wondering if you are the same Matt myself ;) ). Still have the FET's! Unfortunately around the time I got them I had to go on an equipment freeze ;) Bought a house and all that stuff, and my little ME66 is doing OK for what I do. When I can start buying again, I'll still look at the oktava but I'm out of play with mics these days, so don't know the good bang for buck ones.

I'll chuck the money into your account as soon as I can. I'll PM you with details.

Thanks again mate
Aaron

Everyone who purchased a grip from me has a new foam on the way. You will ALL have this foam within ONE WEEK from today. It's one of these pictured. If you have ANY trouble changing the foam out on your grip then you can send it to me and I will do everything for you and pay the return shipping charges.

The reasons for the new foam include appearance, shape, density, and FIT. This custom grip no longer requires ANY adhesive of ANY kind to hold absolutely 100% FIRMLY IN PLACE.

The grip now absolutely kicks ass. I would put it up against either of the "real" grips that cost well over twice the price! I actually like my grip BETTER then the others now.

ALL NEW GRIP PURCHASES ARE NOW $12.95 PLUS $4.50 USPS PRIORITY SHIPPING TO THE CONTINENTAL USA. For countries that accept Airmail Parcel Post the shipping charge will be $8.

Man, that looks like a crazy sex toy.

That said, when you recieve my order, please believe that I will use it for the intended purpose.

ATTENTION ANYBODY WHO BOUGHT A GRIP AND OWNS AN OKTAVA MKO12! DO NOT PITCH YOUR OLD FOAM WHEN YOU RECEIVE THE NEW ONE!

I was jackassing around today and decided to slip one of the old grips onto an Oktava... the new grips are too tight a diameter through the center but the old ones fit perfectly! What does this do? It transforms the Oktava into a hand-holdable mic! This effectively dampens about 80% of the thumps or vibrations... and 90% of the rubbing noise! You can still cause handling noise if you try, but the point is now you can AVOID handling noise with a minimum of effort!

If you put a foam screen over the top the entire mic is bombproof! I call it the Nerf-tava. I'll post about this in the audio forum... it's a great little freebie that turns a hyper sensitive Oktava into a low-sensitivity handheld (for a condenser in this form) that's fun to use.

It dices, it slices, it makes julian fries. But wait, there's more! **ooos and aahhs, and nods and clapping**

Seriously, though, that sounds great. Do you have any of the old ones lying around? Can I get the handle and both of the grips? I'd love that for my Oktava.

Yeah, no problem... you can get anything you want. All you have to do is PM me and ask. I have litterally HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of grips of various types at this point. It's like grip-a-pulooza at my place.

One of the old grips shipped alone is only $2 including packaging and post. That is normal first class which will take 4-7 days to arrive. If you order one of the mic-grips then I'll throw in one of the old ones for a buck.

This is not a one time deal... anybody who wants one of these grips will be able to get one from me FROM NOW ON. To get that custom foam I had to buy 250... so we should be good for a while.
