The Monster of Phantom Lake

I recently finished my first film using the DVX100a called "The Monster of Phantom Lake". It's been getting quite a bit of positive press and we've been accepted to a couple festivals!

At the website you can check out some footage in the downloads section.

Also, here are some screenshots! Isn't the actress in the top image gorgeous!?

Um, ok. Are you talking about the screenshots above or the crappy, low-quality quicktime OUTTAKES from the website?

If you actually watch the DVD or see it in a theater, it doesn't look like digital video AT ALL. It has a very filmic quality to it. I edited it using Vegas 6 and I shot it in squeeze (which I probably won't do again, live and learn) 24pa.

And hey, "BergVision", what have you shot?

Problems with Squeeze

Problems with Squeeze

The problem lies more with what happens AFTER things have been shot. There were instances where I wish I could have reframed things a little better that with squeeze didn't allow me that much "wiggle room". That and the loss of resolution that comes with squeeze mode became quite apparent in some of the scenes that featured the actual lake and the waves. They started to look really digital. I did some of the random water insert shots in 4:3 and reframed later and they looked far better.
