New York City DVX user meeting

Yeah I didnt really get to finish my introduction since everyone started clapping when i said I work in corporate and doing everything I can to get out. I felt like I just completed a week of no drinking in an AA meeting. Next time we meet I want to stand up and say it again so you guys can clap some more. :)

BTW, if you haven't already, ya'll have to check out Desperate Comfort's short film series. It's hilarious! (He showed one of them at the meeting.)

F*ing Hilarious. All powered by the dual Mark power duo. If you watch The Surprise, after seeing Man Hole, you can see that their production and writing skills are growing exponentially.

Well, I will ask for mercy when people watch the Surprise. I am quite happy with the writing, but the execution was less than desirable. That was the one that got me to quit trying to hire people and just do things myself. I always had a hard time finding good people.

Hopefully that will all change now that I've met so many skilled and cool people in the NYC group! :)

Hey, not sure if this is a good place to put this. It might go under jobs, but there is no real pay or anything. I just wanted to reach out to some of the folks I met at the meeting.

I am shooting a scene on green screen Tues, the 21st, and I need a few guys to be ON CAMERA. There is no acting experience required, I just need a few guys to dance in front of a green screen and act like you're at a party, having a good time. This is all part of a "gay-dance-party-dream-sequence." Don't worry, no nudity or anything. You will be shot individually on green. Shooting at a studio in tribeca.

Email me or PM if you are interested, or know someone. It's actually hard to get good actors to do something like this, because there are no lines, and no reel for them to get out of it. Each person will have about 1/2 second of screen time.

And, we actually will be shooting a bunch of green stuff that day, so if anyone wants to come shoot, light, etc, let me know as well. There is not much to it all, and actually I don't NEED anyone to help behind the camera for this, but if you want to come check it out...

sure thing

Hey Mark, I'm up, or down, for it... either ways sounds homo-erotic so I won't go there. I'll email you. Just to see how you light for green screen will be great.

but only 12 frames of fame? ;-)

What time? During the day or after corporate slave hours? If after my daily endentured servitude I'll help out.

If anyone needs someone to help out with a Herofest film in NYC after work hours or on weekends I am willing to help out. Just send me a PM.

that goes for me as well. Alex and I are slaves by day, servants by night. not ready to shoot my own short yet but will help others until I have all the kinks in my process out.

going to see V for Vendetta at the IMAX on the upperwest side tonight at 11:00.

if wants to meet us, tickets are available via fandango but not movie fone

meeting a friend from Seattle in the upstairs candy coke area at 10:30

V IMAX UWS? OMG LOL

I get plastered at Bar on A on Mondays... would have liked to see an IMAX, been a while.

Congrats on your first meet! I've been a member of DVXUSER for about a year. From reading this thread it sounds like newcomers can show up to the next meeting. Am I correct?

I live in Manhattan, I'm an actor by trade and I got a DVX100A about a year ago. I've done test shooting only and I'm now writing a few shorts.

FlintMI: Thanks for the short bio's of those who attended. As I read all the posts I was feeling a bit like a pair of brown shoes in a closet full of tuxedos but I saw the group had a great variety and range of experience.

Looking forward to the next meet.
