(Piano 17) Italian movie shot on FX1

Thanks Vincent for your posting. I own a Sony Z1U and I am always looking to get ideas and visuals about shooting a movie with it and because of people like you, who post links to movies shot with the sony, I'm gaining invaluable knowledge.

The grabs looked awesome! Latitude looked pretty good, even for the muddy/contrasty look the film intended.

Any idea what they did in post to make it so film-like (couldn't have been in-camera...or could it?).

It looked good to me, not as good as tomorrow is today but still really good. They need to learn a thing or two about web compression though.

I suppose they used Magic Bullet...

is that a negative look upon for using that?

ME + MB look suite = :love4:

That trailer didn't tell too much about the movie, but I also just watched the first one. So maybe i should watch the second....

So they did it in post? I simply cant believe the FX1 would have such a shallow depth of field by default.

Hello! I'm italian as the directors, the movie is shot by Manetti Bros ( they have shot also in 35mm film, they are 'nuff famous in Italy, I believe it's shot with Fx1 more for the stylistical thing than money).
In the movie there are famous and professional actors (and professional crew). It's costed about 70.000.00 euros (85.000.00 dollars) it's not so cheap as you think.
You must add also 35mm transfer...so it's costed a lot more.
This movie it's not an "Indie movie" as you think!

Cheers :)

Given the budget, they probably usd some kind of adapter, but Vincent price disagrees. Anyways, that begs the the question: Is the DOF acheived in post, or done using the standard FX1 lenses?

It's best achieved with a lens adapter. Post DOF is one of 2 things:

1. Too hard to do
2. Doesn't look good enough

An M2 or G35 or whatever else is best.
