Why I think the HD100 is the best of the bunch!

That was exactly what I meant. With todays' technology you can go a long way with any powerful enough camera. And by the way, the "videoclub" shot posted by Macregor was not CC and it has an amazing film look. No doubt progressive is WAY better for narrative projects (actualy, IMO, it's always better), but lets not fool our selves thinking that progressive is all there is to "film look" and to achieving great cinematic results. You show a feature film shot with the Z1, the HVX, the GY-HD 100U, the XL H1 to the general public and nobody is going to be fooled it's film no matter what. There are SO MANY factors. If you have any of these cameras you have a truly amazing tool at your disposal and you cannot blame it on the camera for bad results. You CAN make amazing things with ANY of these cameras. Great things were made with non-HD cameras (one that comes to mind is "28 days later", shot on a XL1 and "Land of Plenty", shot with a dvx...and there's a bunch more).

It seems to me that people here don't really get what I'm trying to say (or don't WANT to get). I made my point and those who understand it understand it. I think footage speaks for it self and I've seen enough footage in this very forum to state my point.

I think every one gets your point they just don't agree with you! The good thing is you can buy and use whatever you want, as far as the general public knowing that footage taken on a GY-HD 100u by an experienced camera person and then edited by some with good experience, knowing that it was not shot on film. I seriously doubt that.

Indeed, the footage does speak for itself...which is why I'll be purchasing the HD100 soon. I nearly fell out of my chair when I watched the filmout footage for the first time.

You're in trouble the day that you start thinking that because people don't agree with you, that they don't "get it".
You've got a good point.
It's not the only one.
That's what makes life good...especially in a discussion group.

Sorry once again if I gave the idea that I'm here to convience people. For me forums are about sharing useful information, acording to each persons' experience. Different people, differente experience. Now, when I said that some people here don't seem to get what I'm trying to say I refer to people who are "asking the same questions" after I answered these very questions. Sometimes It feels more to me that some people feel like they need to reasure them selves they made the right choice by chosing a specific camera (I'm not refering to this topic in particular). As for me, I would take any of these babies to the field any day of the week being absolutely sure I would come back to the editing station with some amazing material. I tried the Canon, the JVC and the Sony and I loved them all. I'm looking forward to trying out the Panasonic.

Excellent post amigo.

Also, when you get a minute, can you post some HD footage of your native Barcelona? Do you have any of the "running of the bulls" or cafe' surrounded by Bogenvelia?

Barcelona is not the best place in Spain for bullfighting (I confess I'm not a fan though). But I'm I have to say I'm definetely a fan of the cafe life, good wine and "paella". If things go as planned in a couple of month I'll have a lot of Barcelona HD footage to post here. I visited NY last december for a couple of days I would have loved to have like a month to cross the entire country. Chicago has some amazing architectural work.

mmm, you said something to the effect of SSE is there if you really go looking for it. I'm considering this camera, so wondering under what circumstances you've run into SSE?

I shot with the JVC twice and I really really liked it. I didn't have any problems with SSE. There's a lot of topics here at the forum about this.

If I turn the camera on cold, switch gain to +18dB and point the camera at an low light scene, I can see a split image. It only really shows up when the situation is so bad that your footage is already rotten.

MMM, very helpful, thanks. Waiting until after NAB, but anticipate this is my next camera, plan on getting the 13x lens as well, unless the wide angle adapter for the 20x is adequate. Do you have any knowledge on that front?

Here's the way it breaks down.

16x stock lens is 48 degrees
16x w/ wide angle adapter is 58 degrees
13x lens is 70 degrees

As you can see the 13x lens gives you a whopping increase.

I have tried the Red Eye (0.7x I think) and JVC (Fujinon 0.8X or similar I think..?) and I was NOT impressed by the Red Eye at all. It increased the CA and blurred the image edges badly. The JVC/Fujinon was far better, causing little decrease in quality. It isn't that much wider though, so I didn't buy it. I am thinking about the 13x lens though.
