NO 24p in PAL HVX200

many people say, that there is no difference in 24p and 25p. i for my part can clearly see a difference in us movies, shot in 24p and german movies, shot in 25p.
24p motion is more "graceful", if i may say that. 25p looks preatty much like television to me.
alot of people will say that i talk nonsense. but why on earth is there a 22p framerate in the ntsc model, if there is no big difference in 1or2 fps more or less?

i for my part shot a short last year with the jvc at 24p and it looked really much like film. all stuff i shot with 25p can`t compete with that. if it`s possible, i will only shoot 24p from now on.
if the pal hvx doesn`t advance from the ntsc model, i will consider to wait for a better cam to come and continue renting what i need.

bye bye

I believe the problem doesn't come from the 24/25p per se, but the 50hzs and 60hzs stream. In 50hzs, 25p looks more flickery and unnatural than 24p at 60hzs.

Any solution? yes. Just downconvert to 24p 60hzs and all is fine- no resolution loss whatsoever.

Smart Alac no offence mate, being a fellow countryman and all.... but thats a stupid quote, film definitely aint dead.....

Non taken, and its a quote. Film is dead hale the digital reveloution was actually taken from a quote by at a digital media confrence. Fact is digital isn't no were as nice as the warm feeling of film but its getting dam close. So where in OZ are you located? brisbane here.

Actually in 50Hz the temporal flow is smoother with a straight 2:2 pull-down. In 60Hz film uses an uneven 3:2 pull-down, which creates a slightly unusual cadence. For those who grew up watching films on NTSC, that cadence signifies "quality". But for those who grew up watching films run at 25p on PAL, 24p on NTSC looks slightly jerky and uncomfortable.

48Hz is the magic number at which we don't see flicker any more. Film projectors use a two bladed shutter so each frame is flashed before our eyes twice. 25p is very close to this as for each 25th of a second the TV will scan twice (50i).
