need to decide betwin the sony cams and tha panasonic HVX200 I want my weddings to stand out from the rest.
I want to do some green/blue screen effects so I need the best cam for this kind of work
Would the HVX200 do a better job then the HVR-Z1U?
can I capture Uncompressed from Both?
is it possible to use the Sony FX1 for this kind of work?
please any advice and previous experience is welcome
Thank you in advance: Albert "Lente Loco Studios"

I was in your predicament a few months ago.
2 weeks ago I got the JVC hd100.

the z1 and fx1 are interlaced. The cf24 is bad. The cf25 while good assuming you get the software to understand this frame cadence like aspect hd, reduces the resolution somewhat. Chromakey is best achieved by a progressive footage AND a codec better than DV. the HDV in the sony is not so ideal for this. The PROHD/HDV in the HD100 is better. Plus the progressive produces better edges.

The HVX might not be ideal for you as an HD camera for shooting weddings since the p2 can store only short lengths AND you have an archiving issue. You need at the very least 3 hours of footage per camera for an average wedding.

Though we didnt purchase the HD100 for weddings, our facility has a consumer department that shoots weddings using the DVX100s.

Our corporate department does a lot of chromakeying and DV was terrible in that aspect.

BUT let me add, that if we where to upgrade our wedding cameras to HD, I would get the FX1.
IF chromakeying is NOT part of the requirement.
Its colors are punchy and has the AWE element with its sharpness and HD resolution when viewed by "consumer" clients. AND an important thing, the FX1s batteries last long.
It also records an hour of HD footage on CHEAP easy to find tape.

The HD100 is a "professional" cam that simply is VERY GREEDY with batt power. At 17watts you need to INVEST in big Batteries with HIGH amps per hr. Jvc's best battery only lasts around 60 minutes with a 4 hr charging time.

Hope this info helps you in your decision.

thank you for your input teddybear
but forgot to add
I am a Mac Guy, I won't be doing whole weddings in HD for now " as nobody would want to pay for it" plus I shoot enywhere from 4 to 8 hrs for my best packages, idealy I want a 3 HD cams set-up like the SD set-up I have now event though I wont be doing lots of HD stuff now the cam I buy has to be HD and be the best one for Chormakey effects in fact this is my main concer "IT HAS TO DO IT"
Here is how I woul do it if the HVX 200 is the best one for Chromakey
I would record to tape until cineporter arrives
Record Uncopressed to my G5 for Chromakey jobs "simple ones" a cuople walking on the beach under a sun set, perhaps a band playing or somthing like that nothig funcy really
in the other hand do you think I should leave the idea of doing wedding chromakey for next year, wait for a better camera to come out and instead go with the Sony HVR_Z1U or the FX1?
One question leads to another.
So lests say I get the Z1U now, wich is interlaced and next year I get 2 HVX200's wich can do both Progressive as I mentioned before I want a 3 cam set-up
the Question is would I have trouble mixing interlaced and progressive(Chromakey) clips in FCP time line?
Thank you

I have just replied to a post regarding green screen using FX1. Please look at the samples. We can argue on paper with matamatics why the FX1 can not do green screen. But there may be a lot of people who has done the impossible.
