Hey guys,

I was shooting a friend who plays jazz trumpet, and when i came back to my house and was reviewing footage, everything that i taped when i play it on either

A) the playback on the LCD
B) In Final Cut

The image is looks like its broken with 4 lines across and 3 blocks down of digital pixels being all messed up, i realllly need to figure out whats wrong, since im shooting concert footage for him and his band for next 2 weeks

there are digital pixel boxes completley distorting him and the image and completeley messing up the shot, any help would be AMAZING, thanks guys

Definitely clean the heads, that issue seems to be related to a bit of stuff getting stuck on the playback head.

Try playing the tape back in another DV device as well.

Great advice as always, Barry. I perplexed over a similar problem which was easily solved by using a different camcorder as the deck. Really the best way to go anyway. Save those heads!

Do I have the same problem?
When I did some recordings via digital cut in Avid, I played back the tape and it gives me also a distorted image, black horizontal bars, and distortion on the left side, no sound at all, if I keep playing it gives me an error:

unplayable tape (other format)

I also want to try to clean the heads, can my problems be solved if I buy a cleaning tape? I am just reading the Cleaning Heads Tread, no cleaning tapes!
