Difference between FILM CAM and VIDEO CAM

Which mode you select changes the way certain features operate.

In FILM CAM mode, you can have variable frame rates, and the syncro-scan shutter is expressed in terms of degrees.

In VIDEO CAM mode you have no variable frame rates and the syncro-scan shutter is expressed in fractions of a second. But you get access to other features like pre-record and time lapse and News Gamma.

Also, maybe I'm missing something, but I am having trouble changing the "THICK, THIN" settings on certain F settings. I would Have nearly identical settings for F5 and F6, one being 720 24pn, the other 720p 24p at 60fps, though one of them wouldn't let me change the setting thin or wice versa. What gives? I had to modify F1 and F2 instead.

THICK & THIN only apply to 480 modes. They have no applicability in any other mode. Rest assured if you're shooting in 720p or in 1080, it's always always always "thin". The menu item will be blue if you're in 720 or 1080 mode because blue means "not applicable".
