Tape Stock - AMQ vs. MQ

What is the difference between 63MQ and 63AMQ tape? Is it OK to switch tape stock back and forth between 63MQ and 63AMQ?

I DID do a search, but did not find anything correlating to the difference between 63MQ & 63AMQ. Nor did I find anything about being able to swap between the two tapes w/the 100a. Any help would be appreciated.

Generally most people will agree that you should pick one type of tape and stick to it. Don't switch back and forth, this will lead to the "red X".

As to what tape, well some will say MQ, others will say AMQ. It all records the same info (1's & 0's), so stick with what your budget allows.

Switching between Panasonic MQ and AMQ is fine. You just don't want to do something like switch between Sony and Panasonic. AMQ is just a "beefy" version of the MQ. The metal particals that make up the tape are finer and there are more and higher quality layers. This provides less errors and more robust operation.
