3) This clips is a heavily adjusted using the color matrix in camera. It's designed to desaturate the Yellow, Red and Magenta from the frame. The result is the eye's of the child pop off the screen and everything else is desaturated. It's an interesting look and I've got ideas on how to use it. Anyway, here it is YMR scene file clip (click here)

DLing.

I haven't even read anything on this camera, and all of the footage speaks for itself.

Where's the best place to go to get more info on this? I hate scouring boards after the issues are long dead.

Anyone having any luck playing this footage back on a mac? Even though I've got the flip WMV playback component I'm getting an all white screen. Doh! Anyhelp would be appreciated:)

Wow, I want my kickback :)

In my conversations with Mitsuo from IOData early last year (when we were looking at distribution models for our HDV short-film On Our Way Up), I went into detail how I thought they should partner with JVC and do a JVC branded version of the AVEL LinkPlayer to sell as a companion to the HD10. I can't believe they finally did it though (he never seemed that interested in the idea).

I'm a big fan of the LinkPlayer, I even registered www.avellinkplayer.com and was going to become a reseller of the unit, but that never materialized (being able to play DRM protected WMVHD DVDs was a big feature missing from it at the time).

My only question is why would I pay close to $400 for the JVC branded version where you can get it from IO-DATA for $250. They are identical as far as I can tell (aside from the JVC logo and black coloring).

Hi Ben,

for grins, can you download the 'filmout' wmv and burn it to a disk and try it in the player? I wonder if it will play. Another interesting point about the player is that it was hooked up to a D-ILA cinema projector here in Chicago last month and played out m2t right to the cinema screen. Wow...

Sorry my friend, WMV-HD will not play on Mac. Maybe you could view it on a PC? I can not make H.264 because of the poor integration of QTPro with XP. Sorry amigo...

Sure, I can try that when I get a chance, but having played countless WMVHD DVD+R's on the LinkPlayer, including several originated from our old JVC HD10 and then converted to WMV9 HD in Vegas (up to 9.2Mbps), I see no reason it wouldn't play.

Yes, it handles M2t files straight from a DVD-R which I also found impressive (19Mbps from a DVD seems impressive to me at least).

It also does well with DivX HD. It's a neat little player. It is also a great way to "preview" your work on a HDTV because you can output your project to M2T and then stream the M2T over the network to the LinkPlayer which would be hooked up to the TV.

Lakeshore Drive Chicago IL (175MB) and other Chicago link(s) are down?
I'll have to re-upload that file. I didn't realize it didn't upload and only 650KB ended up getting uploaded instead of the 175MB. I'll get to it this weekend. Right now I'm on location in KY.

I'm sure it would too (play I mean). I don't know what's special about the JVC player over the regular Avel. It's hard to say if there is any difference.

Did you use any sort of adapter on the "Film out"? anything at all? or is it just naked JVC?

That footage is amazing.

Nice Stephen.

Granted I'm veiwing this on my laptop, I see virtually no noise despite the
extreme low light setting.

Good work.

Stephen

How did you pull that into your computer?
