dropouts, hits, etc. w/ sony tape on hvx-200

I've been using Sony PDVM-40ME successfully for years across several different cameras but when I tried one in my new hvx-200, I get all kinds of nasty hits, mosaics, dropouts, etc. I ordered some pany tape to see if it helps but has anyone else noticed this phenom or is it unique to me?
 
I'd run a head cleaning tape through the camera before you switch. Not sure about those specific tapes, but they may be wet lube, as opposed to the dry lube panasonic uses. Panasonic MQ or AMQ tapes are recommended.
 
Yeah, the MQ tapes are the only ones I used in my DVX. But still its tape and it has its problems. I'm going to try and not use any tape in my HVX. The only reason I could think I would ever use it would be to dub P2 footage onto it. Did you use the Sony tapes in a DVX before with no problems?

No, I've never used pany tape so the first tape I ever tried in the hvx-200 was the PDVM-40ME. My real plan was to shoot to P2 on my upcoming project but alas, those damn 8GB cards are nowhere to be found. I ordered mine in January... got the cameras but sans P2 cards. Last I heard was June delivery. :( So tape for now. I'll let you know if I have success. Thnx everyone.

We did buck up... in January. We laid down 4K for two 8GB cards but they're on BO until June. The cineporter and FS-100 aren't due out for a few weeks but I have a shoot in Italy next week so SD to tape--pany tape--it is. I'm curious how they'll handle the P2 card delivery questions at NAB.

well the price has been cut almost in half, so hopefully you will be able to get 4 8gb cards for the same amount of money in june.
 
I don't how they can sell a 'kit' and the box doesn't include 2 of the most important parts of the 'kit'. Oh 8Gigabyteo, where art though 8Gigabyteo?

P2 is a terrific idea but this is ridiculous... Panasonic should be totally embarrased and they owe us all a sincere apology.
