!HVX200 - Club Promo Footage!

Nice work!

Was all of that done by you or your entire production group?

Was all of the footage shot with the HVX?

Pretty good stuff. What was the codec used? The image seems a little SD to me. But maybe it's JUST me.

Regarding all video, that was just me with my HVX. The lights, set up, models, makeup, and photography was by Umbrella and Elzer Ramos. I had just got clearance to come in and shoot video of everything, so I went for it. I was there for several hours and only filled 30 minutes on my 8GB cards at 720p24N. I'd say I shot very well, only capturing prime shots, and leaving the extraneous crap unrecorded. I like what the limitations of P2 do to my sense of shooting. This made my transfer and edit pretty damn fast. :) What took the longest was doing music from scratch. That always takes a long time, in this case most of Saturday night.

Hey man,
nice footage, like always if you post something..!
On the whole "noise issue" i am interested how your original footage looked on a big hdtv screen..as fare a s i have seen there was just few noise...was this also your experience with the raw footage?

And also some post-question..did you do much cc or any noise reduction?

Looks great. I liked your video a while back with the seizure inducing cuts and fast motion, that was very cool.
This looked like a fun job to get paid for.. ha!

Thanks! The noise issue is an old one for sure. If you have enough light, grain is no issue. If you are in a dark club like I was, be sure not to gain up in the camera, and use Cinelike V. I also opted for slow shutter speed at times to get decent exposure. I haven't looked at any of this on an HDTV. I mainly went for treating it for web compressed versions, so I bumped up the levels and contrast a bit. This introduced quite a bit of grain. If going out to TV I probably would have kept it darker, and hence cleaner. Even though the photographer had decent lighting, it was still on the low side entering into the HVX. I also tweaked colors to cool it off a bit.

Thanks man! The camera rocks big time.

Holyzoo I liked the girls! Can you introduce myself to them? LOL
Great stuff! Seems the camera is very good for head shots :)

Sweet looking.... footage. Are these women you bring home to mom? Or who cares about that.?

Glad someone is out there doing what must be done. Tough job but has to be done...

I thought this look amazing and very film like. Some of the best images I've seen produced on this little camera. Also The blacks look pretty clean.

Thanks! And keep in mind, this was all pretty low light still. I had to boost levels in post, which added some noise. You can get even better footage, better blacks, with more light.

holy zoo did you shoot with ur 35mm lenses on the HVX? or is that club promo footage just the HVX alone?

That was the stock HVX lens. The 35mm rig would have sucked in that environment and crippled me. I was happy with just the HVX. :)

I told you! This camera is very good for narrative work and people driven drama. Don't worry Danilo! You wont be disappointed!

EDIT- Forgot to coment on the footage! GREAT STUFF Holyzoo!

Just point and shoot, he? Just look at the richness of the colors! Hollyzoo, do you find 1080p less impressive on colors? I do- but I really do think 720p is more than enough...

How about some 60p slow motion action with these same models :)

EDIT AGAIN- Hollyzoo, can I ask you for one specific test? Its simple- can you show me some footage shot at 48p then slowed down to 24p? This would be the equivalent in slowmotion to what us PAL users will get in smooth slowmotion... This is just to have an idea of it is worth it or not to go for the extra 10fps in ntsc... Thanks in advance!
