LAUREN BACALL is not Paltrow mom. earlier post. that had to be one of the worst awards ceremony in years, it was lacking in feeling, (where are the method actors when you need them) reese was good(Dench gets booted again) aw americans don't like the english classical trained actors. that rap band was the only exciting thing last nite. i wish they would have more of a tribute to the dead......because the living was borrrrrriiiinnnngggg! awe but hollywood soon forgets.:badputer:

I really think Good Night should have won Cinematography though.

I agree:thumbsup:

Although Memoirs was good, I think Good Night edged it out by a hair.

What movie won vfx? I heard John Letteri's name, but I forgot what film he worked on.

Three 6 Mafia, I have no qualms about them winning (not my pick though) but they could have at least worn a tux, or something close.

They had just finished performing about 1 or 2 minutes before the announcement. I'm kind of glad they won, given the competition and the role of the song to the film - but I don't think they represented the hip-hop community very well. I didn't think their live performance was very good either, but that's usually the case with hip-hop. It's a studio-oriented art form IMO.

Oh, I missed that. I only saw a clip after the Oscars were over.

That's cool... I still think it got ripped off when it comes to it's story, and drama.

Which Best Picture nominee was better?

I think Kong was good, and probably should have been up there, but it was kind of in a lone pack considering it's subject versus all the nominees subject matter.

I'm glad Hoffman won best actor... I haven't seen Capote, but his body of work is just incredible.

and I thought the Crash best picture was well deserved

I was really hoping that Hoffman would bark like a dog for his acceptance speech, but he claims he forgot to... oh well. As for "Hard Out Here for a Pimp"- Even fans of rap can agree its not a "great" rap song, but...
1. It's competition was WEAK -that crash song sounds just like Aimee Mann (did soundtrack for Magnolia)
2. In the context of the Film "Hustle and Flow" the song was a centerpiece for the plot of the film. You go along for the journey of the creation of the song, and thats what makes it the best Song (from a soundtrack) of the Year.
If you are wondering why that song won, just rent "Hustle and Flow" -which IMHO deserved several more nominations.

I could record farts and call it music ...but it doesn't mean that I am a musician, an artist nor oscar-worthy musician.

Hahahahaha! :dankk2: Got a good laugh--suprised me.

John Stewart = Worst Host Ever

Edit: Actually it could be a tie with Whoopi Goldberg for that honor.

Edit #2:
Even Letterman was better

Edit #3: How the poo poo do we go from Bob Hope/Johnny Carson to this clown ('clown' meaning schmuck, not 'clown' meaning funny)?

How can you say that? I though John Stewart was great. he may have relied on jew jokes to much, but I laughed at every joke he said. It makes the oscars intresting

Haven't seen Transamerica but I've heard a lot of good things about it.

I was one of the first 4(i think) audiences to see it. I had not idea it was felicity huffman as the lead until the credits...I was shocked, she does an amazing job. The movie is great but if you have issues with frontal nudity or boy on truck driver love, you might want to steer clear.

its good, funny, and intense
