omfi export

I am trying to export an omfi session for our sound editor to use in protools - however when I go to export there is no OMFI session available.

We are editing MXF files from the hvx - I am thinking that perhaps this is the cause but was wondering if anyone can help me get an omfi session out of this - or knows if protools can do AAF?

I wanted to export one from an HDV project but the option wasn't there: I'm guessing it's not possible if you're editing with MXF files.

Later versions of Pro Tools supports AAF for both sequence and you can then choose to embed the media.

but is there a reason why OMFI export is not available in my project? - that is the preferred way for our sound guy to receive files - is there a way to make it available?

OMFI is only available in projects where the media is "omf".
If you want to export your HD MXF media you'll have to use AAF.
