Winston Wolf

So I just watched Pulp Fiction for the umpteenth time this afternoon, and something stood out to me again and I have to find an answer of some type...

Why is Winston Wolf at a Black Tie party at 8am?  What kind of party happens at that time in the morning?  I know the simple answer is that the party has been going all night, but when you watch it, you can just tell it isn't that type of party.

Any Tarantino-heads got the answer?

Re: Winston Wolf

It doesn't look like a normal cocktail party to me... It has been a while since I have seen the film, but if I recall correctly, isn't it more like a casino party?

Re: Winston Wolf

Not in one afternoon, maybe I needed to put a comma in there or something. the umpteenth time in my life. I'd be in an isylum reciting Jules' bible speech if that were the case.

Re: Winston Wolf

I've never understood where he was supposed to be, either.

But I just take it at face value - it's cool that he's in a tuxedo at a party when he gets the call, and it needed to be in the morning for the rest of the story's continuity to work out ;D

I don't think that's necessarily the real reason, but it justifies it in my mind, and for me that's good enough :P

Re: Winston Wolf

Gangsters need to spend their evenings doing dirty deeds. Perhaps they must party during the day then.

That then beckons the question: Why were Vincent and Jules working during the day? Perhaps they party at night, ie taking out Boss man's wife.

Re: Winston Wolf

Really, there are a lot of unique instances in this film, like for instance when they come to retrieve the briefcase, Brett is eating a Kahuna burger and drinking a sprite... at 7am. Not your typical breakfast, though something a bachelor might have, but every single fast food joint I've encountered has a Breakfast menu that goes until at least 10am.

Re: Winston Wolf

lol That's very true!

I was doing that opening scene for a drama class in high school, and had to perform it around 10am. I ran into the problem of not having the ability to get burgers for the actors - but I didn't even think that THEY would have had that problem, too :P

I suppose it could have been leftovers...but that's just trying to find a reason for it.

I love Pulp Fiction ;D

Re: Winston Wolf

I think Wolf is at an underground gambling party that went all night. Sort of a speakeasy. He's a gangster after all.

Re: Winston Wolf

i always thought it was some sort of highclass party thing that only rich gangsters would know about...i never gave it much tought...just seemed strange, but suitable...
