ok ok i know, i dont want to start a conversation about his new film, i want to know some information about his older film, Buffalo '66 starring himself and Ricci. those who know and have seen this film, what camera was he shooting on and what stock was used. i found this, "Gallo decided to shoot on reversal stock (the equivalent of color transparency film - expensive both to buy and process)" can someone explain to me what reversal stock is?

Re: Vincent Gallo and Buffalo '66

Reversal film is film that produces a positive image (thus allowing for projection of the camera original footage, without requiring a positive print to made from a negative), rather than a negative image like most motion picture and still film.

Most super-8 is reversal (with the exception of recently available 35mm negative stocks split in half and loaded into Super-8 cartridges), as is 35mm slide (or "transparency") film. Reversal stock was quite common in the 60's and 70's, when tv news was shot on film; shooting reversal made it quicker and easier to shoot news footage, process it, edit it, and have it ready for broadcast without having to make a positive print of the footage.

Shooting DV has often been compared to shooting reversal film, since both reversal and DV are less tolerant of overexposure, unlike negative film which allows a greater margin of error. Reversal typically offers more saturated colors than negative film, especially if slightly underexposed (by about 1/3 of a stop).
