Why NEX cameras and not the right designation for the other series such as Alpha and so on?

Especially when NEX models are mostly discontinued... And the hype of nowadays is alpha cameras range instead.
Just a little note requiring correction when I've tried to open a new thread there and haven't found the right subforum for posting.
