removing shadows of camera crew

I caught a really good moment when the camera was rolling before the take cept the shadows of the crew are in the shot. I thought of just croping the sides of the image where the shadows are moving most because it is a low lit scene anyways, but was wondering if there was any cooler ways to go about it.

thanks

If the camera was locked down and you have other shots from the same setup without the shadows, you could comp the clean plates in over the shadows with a basic mask.

If the camera is moving quickly, you might get away with cheating a motion blur over the shadows.

If the camera was moving slowly, things are a more complex and a proper correction overlay might call for tracking, matchmove or just plain roto to fit a clean replacement over the shadows.

Good luck

yeah if you can clean it up like that go for it... But if it would be easyer to reshoot the scene... Ill do that. And tell the crew to stop standing infront of the light :p

thanks

thanks

thanks, yea the camera is all over the place which wouldn't be all that bad for the shot, except the shadows kill it for definite. Shame to let a good performance allbeit unintentional, go to waste.

One other possible solution would be to 2D track a soft mask on the main subject area, then do some color correction (curves adjustment or levels) to the area outside the mask to help down play the shadows or minimize their noticeability.
