Recommended rim light/hair light?

I would descrie a light as spotty.. when the beam is uneven. that is probably personal.. as a 'srotlight' may have a very even beam

Sidus is super good but not great. On my recent feature when we needed a smooth fade to black.. we used men and flags to block the lights :)

Im backing sidus.. this may be an error

thanks everyone. Those 8' quasar lights look interesting. Are they bright enough for backlight?
Are you guys talking about f21c flexible mat lights?
The Amaran 200x cannot use barn doors correct? How would it those work?
How about some adjustable beam bi-color fresnels?

I'm guessing you would need 6 to 8 of those quasars to do what you could do with 3 200x's or 4 f21c's. Just a guess. But anyway it all depends on what light level you require in the first place.

You can put barn doors on the 200x s. Anything with Bowens mount. What's common is barn doors like this that go on the end of a short non-reflective dish: https://shop.aputure.com/products/aputure-barndoors

but I think you may be able to find Bowens mount barn doors with no dish...

There's no reason you couldn't use adjustable fresnel lights but all the same considerations are in play. Is the beam uneven? How much of the stage will it cover? Are you going to overlap the beams or cut them at the edges so they don't overlap?

and I guess one big related question is if you want to flood the entire stage with backlight or if you plan on focusing the backlight on talent. I had assumed you were going to flood the whole stage so you wouldn't need to adjust it later

You could also put a fresnel on the 200x s. I have an assortment of Bowens mount fresnel and barn doors attachments
