Problems with Vegas 5

I am new to Vegas. I am a Liquid Editions user, but Liquid does not allow me to fully utilize the power of my DVX100A. So with all of the ravings about the power of Vegas I have decided to at least test it out. I downloaded the demo, installed and ran it. The problem I have is with the explorer. When I open the explorer, I get a listing for system of the drives that’s I have, but when I click on any one of the drives, my right pane goes blank. If I right click on the drive, explorer current folder....I get error message that "An error occurred while attempting to explore 'WAC\C:' (WAC is the name of my Machine) and still my right pane remains blank. Odd thing is, if I browse to My Network Places then goto my machine I am able to view and explore drives that I have available as network shares.

Hmm. Never seen that problem. Might be a limitation with the demo (though I don't know that it is). Probably isn't, though -- I'd try de-installing and re-installing.

Re: Problems with Vegas 5

It sounds like a drive configuration error. I have never had any problems witht he vegas explorer. Is the "C" drive your only hard drive? Sorry I can't be of more help, I havn't heard of that problem before. You might want to check out the Vegas Forum over on sony's page.

Re: Problems with Vegas 5

is it a shared network drive? sounds like it could be a sharing/permissions issue

Re: Problems with Vegas 5

De-installing and re-installing tried that. Did not work.
Have a trial installed on my home PC works fine.
I am working with an IBM Thinkpad T30 (P4 2.4, 1gig ram). I have an 80 gig installed. It is partition into 3 drives and a have an 80 gig drive in my ultrabay that I use for my media files.  It seems that it will only access shared drives thru the explorer if I enter thru My network Places. Nothing local. It won't even access the shared drive on my local machine. It will only access it thru MY Network Places. I can access my all my files fine from the import media.

Upon futher examination I find that the problem exist with all of the sony installed apps (VV5, SF7 and DVDA2).

Ok, I have come to the conclusion that the problem is a security and rights issue. If I log in as my local administrator all is fine, but if I log in as my domain user (with full administrative rights) it’s a no go.

Re: Problems with Vegas 5

I had this problem in Vegas 4.0b so as a work around, I didn't use the explorer and instead just opened a folder and dragged and dropped from there or just added the files into the media pool instead. I got so used to this that I forgot that it even had a built in explorer. Anyway, the problem went away after upgrading to 4.0e. Using the 5.0 trial, I haven't experienced it either thus far.
