This isn't super helpful I know, but you could put a Decimator MD-HX in line which will convert the pSf into progressive.
The specs seem to indicate that in 4K mode, the 29.97 output will be pSf while in 1080 mode, it gives you various options. Is there any possibility the recording format was actually set to 4K...?
