Pan/Crop: What's the max. acceptable zoom?

Hello Vegas users! I was curious if anyone has determined the maximum acceptable zoom that can be applied before it's obvious that post-zooming was used.

Assuming the footage is properly exposed an in focus, how far can you go, and how do you tell you've gone too far?

I'm looking for a "don't zoom more than __ " type of answer. Thanks!

You tell you've gone to far when you start to see pixelation.

Which, unfortunately, isn't that far in, especially in a wide shot. DV is fairly low-resolution.

Vegas does do a good job of interpolating the image, so you can zoom, but I wouldn't reccomend it like david said. The only zoom I would do would be to go from 4x3 to true 16:9. I've heard that photozoom does it better, but vegas does a pretty good job as well.
