WOW!! I watched this last night! Overnight is the documentary of Troy Duffy,. the bartender who wrote and eventually directed the BOONDOCK SAINTS. It is a must-see. This guy was such a ****in idiot! Who woulda known he could make a good film. I won't give anything away, but I def. suggest you see it.

I saw this a while back and I thought it was amazing--especially in terms of how naive Troy Duffy is when it comes to the Hollywood system. Also, there's a very interesting dynamic between Duffy (the sudden, out of nowhere superstar) and the people who have been working in the industry and paying their dues for years and years.

I personally don't think "Boondock Saints" is a very good film. It borders on awful for me but "Overnight" is certainly a very interesting look at the making of Saints. Definitely check it out.

i like Boondock Saints. that having been said i've heard a lot of bad things about duffy. supposedly he's a jerk to work for and arrogant on top of that and a lot of other things. i'll have to check out "Overnight". i don't think my blockbuster has it though....

Honestly I was hugely disappointed in this doc.

There's like 10 minutes of the film that deals with the making of Boondocks(the actual production). the rest of the film is Duffy rehashing the exact same conversation over and over about how he's the best and how he's gonna take Hollywood by storm.

I'm glad you guys dug it, but I was soooo bored. I didn't find it to be a very well put together doc compared to others I've seen. Too many "filler" shots without enough substance.

The show did make Duffy look like the biggest ass on the planet. I can't believe his agency didn't get him any video royalties. He'd never have to work another day in his life if he had those royalties.

I listened to the commentary he did on a new dvd of Boondocks. He sounds like somewhat of a changed man, very gracious over the fact so many people loved his film. IMDB shows they are in production on Saint pt.2 with him directing and he and Taylor writing it. So he may be on the right track.

I don't watch a crapload of docs, so maybe you notice things that I don't. As far as a changed man....One would hope, but it kinda came at the wrong time.

I don't watch many docs either.

I think my bias is because I thought it was about the making of Boondocks... not how big of a jerk Troy Duffy can be.(i should have read the back of the cover instead of just the front).

I did find it very redundant. There were way too many meetings of the Syndicate. Other than being parts of the band what was their purpose? To sit and listen to Duffy talk about how big they were gonna become?(this isn't me being sarcastic, I'd really like to know what purpose any of them other than Duffy had)

Obviously it's a case of to each his or her own. Maybe the day I watched it was really looking forward to seeing a movie about the making of the movie, not the undoing of the director. As I said, it's good that you guys got something out of it, makes it worthwhile.

I read the back, so I knew what to expect, although I agree that I would have rather seen the making of boondock. We saw more of the un-making of it!
