It was as if someone took every device used in Family Guy, made it unfunny and then made it even less funny than that by making it suck. The talking German goldfish and spew-spewing alien, FG rip-off kids and indulging wife - give me a break!

Even jokes at the expense of the GOP and W were not remotely humorous. I dread and somewhat celebrate that this series will not last long.

Abyssmally bad. I think this effort places somewhere between The Real Gilligan's Island and Small Wonder on the crap scale.

I caught a few minutes of it after the superbowl. It's wasn't really funny. But it looked like and utilized elements of the family guy probably cause it was writen and directed by seth macfarlane! who created family guy....

Yeah, it was pretty awful. I think MacFarlane started developing this before Family Guy was resurrected.

Even those pencil sketch teasers for the upcoming May premier have had me laughing.

I really hope that American Dad isn't a precursor to what we'll see on the new FG.

You can't make a straight line any straighter. Big disspointment. :-[ I'm confident that the new Family episodes are going to be good.

I think American Dad was seth's new animated family. Because he lost family guy this seems like a bad clone. But now that family guy is on the right track, this just seems unecessary. If he can evolve the show to somehow make it grow different than family guy I think it could end up being good. But fox doesn't like to wait around for a series to find its own. A la firefly, tick, and greg the bunny

Both suck...haven't decided which is more suckier. Oh, as to the suckiest cartoon of all-time, the Oddballs on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.
Now that steaming pile of cellushit made me CANCEL CABLE!

i think the point was that they screwed FG so seth used AD as an excuse to resurrect FG under a new name, they're basically the same show. but they gave him FG back... oops

now wether its funny or not is up to u, at first i was just shocked at how FG like it was, but again i stated why i think they did that. Its a an expanded teaser and ur right it wasnt great but i remember seeing the 7 min version online months ago and when they brought that dog it, it was perty funny, and the dust piss, sry, i chuckled.

hopefully the real eps are better, or they just let it go and we'll get some nice FG eps

I hear you. But! Did Fox have the deal with MacFarlane for American Dad, and if so, aren't they the very network that axed Family Guy? Because American Dad is virtually the same concept - except really shitty - does it make sense that Fox would order the same series that they had previously canceled?

Did Fox give up, at least temporarily, their rights to produce new episodes of Family Guy when it was becoming so popular on cable?

I just don't understand why Fox would jump into bed with Seth when they let him go in the first place. Perhaps there was a new studio head (who is a FG fan) behind the whole fiasco?

Doesn't change the fact that Fox should have - and likely did - show us the very best episode they have in the can for American Dad. And it sucked - badly.

Oh, that dog peeing dust was very funny!

My theory is American Dad is a toned down Family Guy [hence the shittyness] because FG didn't get an audience [until after it was gone]. It got canceled because people were not watching. The thinking was it was just too much for people and that's why it failed. Too dark and risky. FG got resurrected because DVD sales were better than any TV show to date. FG would have never been dumped if they knew it would eventually grab such a big fan base. American Dad was/is just another swing at bat with the hope a toned down show might work. It does not. :P

I happen to love Family Guy, but that's pretty damn funny. :D

American Dad- DEFINITELY not up to par with Family Guy. But then again, it was just the pilot, I haven't lost all hope.

Though I did think that many of the actors sucked. The alien is going to get on my nerves, I just know it.

Also, there were many jokes that would have been funny, had they ben timed correctly. The joke about Memento would have been hilarious without that beat in the middle of it.

Only time will tell on this one...

Small Wonder?! Say it isnt so!!! ;D

as bad as that show was, I always wanted that show to go on to see how hot(or not) the girl was to be as she got older and was the brother gonna think of doing some rather horrid and illegal things to his "robot" sister.
